Accessing DJI Mini 4 Pro flight data on macOS

This is last ditch attempt to see if there is anyone out there who has successfully accessed their flight data using an iMac. My 2019 iMac with the latest OS will not allow me to open anything on the Mini 4 Pro, except the MicroSD card, which I take out of the drone anyway. I have tried Open MTB, Android File Transfer, and even a YT ‘How to’ specifically for iMacs., but his iMac system pages look quite different o mine and have different menus. I’ve been onto the DJI website where it describes how to do it by uploading their software but my iMac will not allow me to open their software. I suspect I shall have buy a cheap PC laptop just to access the drone data. It’s ridiculous in this day and age that it’s not possible. Any advice anyone?

The data is encrypted and useless to you anyway

Like I said before, use Airdata like we all do!

If you’re not familiar with Airdata it’s an independent platform that allows you to aggregate your flight records and it also allows you to share logs with other people.

Here’s a guide on how to upload your flight logs to their web site / app:

Setting up Direct DJI Sync

Once your logs are visible in Airdata you can use this guide to share the log(s) in question:

Once you’ve created the share on the Airdata web site simply reply here and paste the URL, someone will then take a closer look for you.

I’ll vouch for Air dara too. it’s the best way to view flight logs.

30 year Mac user.

If you really want to let anything from DJI near your machine (I do on occasion) then better to do it in a throw away VM and use the Windows version of assistant.

But as above all you need is sat on the controller just needs syncing with AirData.

Takes 5 minutes

Thanks SparkyFPV. I tried that but the website guided me to a 7 year old YT video, which shows an out of date menu structure using iTunes and based on using my iPhone. I haven’t enabled the DJI fly app on my iPhone to collect data. When I enabled file transfer is says unsuccessful. So,…
What I have found is a short YT video done by a guy with the same dilemma. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BUuNnp_k-uk.
There is also a note that says the Android file transfer isn’t downloadable from the website anymore. It is downloadable, as I downloaded it a few weeks ago, albeit with no success until tonight, where the simple instructions, which I would never have considered my self, has helped solve the problem. I now have the flight data logs.
This works and I hope may help others who are experiencing the same frustrations.

All the info is in the post above, you are not downloading anything but syncing your dji flight logs with Airdata

The flight logs are stored on DJI’s server and Airdata uses a website with a browser

Here is one of my flights for you to have a look at

Thankyou. I have tried for 30 mins to synch my iPhone with the RC2 but it’s not having it. The RC2 won’t connect to the WiFi. I’m done. I can upload the flight logs to Airdata. That’s good enough for me.

The flight logs are synced from the dji fly app to DJIs server, the RC2 just needs an internet connection either by a wifi connection or hotspot from your phone

Once they have been uploaded to DJIs server then you can use Airdata to sync them to your Airdata account

Thanks SparkyFPV, I appreciate that, but I couldn’t get any connection between my RC 2 and my WiFi router last night, so was frustrated. I have now downloaded all my flight data and am currently trying to figure out how to create a Waypoint mission from a flight log converted to a CSV file. Now Airdata doesn’t like my CSV file, so I can’t process it to then use the Litchiutilities app to create a Waypoint mission. Any ideas why? Again I wonder if it might be because the CSV file has been generated by Apple’s ‘Numbers’ app. Have you experienced this at all?

No, sorry, not sure if this might help

Try run the csv though something like notepad++ to get some ‘normal text’ then use excel.

As for the Airdata connection, try use your phone as a hotspot and not the home router

Thanks for that. I have an iMac. If memory serves both Excel and Notepad are Windows based program.

You might wanna google that

This is what Google says: Both Notepad and Excel are Windows-based applications. Notepad is a basic text editor that comes pre-installed with Windows operating systems, while Excel is a spreadsheet application that is part of the Microsoft Office suite and is also designed for Windows.

Your Google is broken  … my Google tells me ..

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet editor developed by Microsoft for Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and iPadOS.

Thats my MBP running Excel.

As for notepad, read what I put ;o)

Apple numbers has a habit of messing with number formats (as does Google Sheets), run the data through a decent text editor (Notebook ++) or make sure Numbers is treating it (in the first instance ) as plain text, then format it into something that Litchi Utilities will recognise

I’ve used this lots, really cool web interface and a piece of piss (once you have the airdada)

! I think I’m broken, I’m so tired of this constant battle trying to overcome obstacles for every step. :scream:

It looks like a really useful tool, if only I could use it!!! :face_with_head_bandage:

Turn off the wifi on your iPhone (so you’re using mobile data), turn on personal hotspot then connect your controller to that.

Let us know how you get on.
