Absolutely amazing!
How did you get permission to fly there?
Flew from my hotel roof top opposite the acropolis didn’t overfly the site and stayed vlos several other drones were flying too
Beautiful
Would that flight still not have been in contravention of the Greek CAA rules though? Not looking to be argumentative, but my understanding is that ALL drone flights have to be approved?
You only have to register flights that are 50m from the operator ,our hotel was within the 50m from the picture the only possible problem could be that you can’t fly at night hence the flight being at dusk ,at least that is my understanding of the greek drone regs but happy to learn if you know more
I haven’t seen it written anywhere that within 50mtrs VLOS you don’t have to request permission to fly in Greece, where did you read that?
Excellent Pano Kev
hi @kriscii I’ve edited your post to make a nicer link that works ;o)
It wasn’t my post but I’m sure @kevcb1 will spot it
Yes spotted it thanks ,link works great
Many thanks for posting the link to the HCAA - that is a real help for sure! Whilst I have applied for and received permission for my intended flight on the wedding day (evening/dusk time), the news that I can legally fly within a 50mtr radius during the day in any free fly zone is going to make it so much easier to obtain the aerial shots from our vacation time.
What’s confusing me is that I had not seen that information before, despite having researched and read so much EASA information beforehand. Still, brilliant news and I am very pleased that I won’t be having to make any further flight plan requests in Rhodes (all being well!)
Pleased this has helped you on your big day.
We all know you should fly to the letter of the law but you will find Greece is very laid back about drone flights as long as you use common sense I doubt you would have any problems, I flown in Greece many times and only had positive reaction from the locals
Cheers Kevcb1, it’s actually our nephew’s wedding day, I’ve already got 30 years under my belt
