Advice for a new flyer to an Inspire 1 v2

Hello all,

So after buying a P3P back in December and a Mini at the start of this month I’ve just bit the bullet to almost finish off my collection. I’ve just bought an Inspire 1 v2 on eBay and what to know if anyone has advice on gotcha’s this may have with it being a bigger drone then the ones I’ve had before.

When it arrives I’ll be throwing up a photo of where my drone addiction started and the gear I’ve gotten.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I documented My delve in to the world of the DJI Inspire if you fancy a lot of insight over a long read.

The only gotcha I can think of these days is spare batteries, they’re rarer than hens teeth stuck in piles of rocking horse shit

Other than that, enjoy your journey

Brilliant thank you for that link. I’ve got 72 hours ish till its here so have one question. The gimble coming with it is an X3. What would you recommend to change to (in relation to a P3P and mini 2 camera) or just keep as is and hope to find a battery soon.

The X3 camera is on par with the original Mavic Pro.

If anything, I’d upgrade it to the X5.

But see how you get on first, before investing even more money in to it

It doesn’t matter how often or vehemently you tell yourself this, it will never be true.

It’s got surprising performance for a compartively heavy beasr. So take it gently for the first few flights and when you have the feel of it find a decent open space to give it full bore.

Trees are not your friend. Collision avoidance is minimal and the Insspires boom arms and gimbal don’t do too well in a crash.

Once you get confident fly it like you stole it. I have a few spare parts available if you do damag it :sunglasses:

I agree with Rob, they are extremely fast beasties 60 mph +), and will soon get away from you if you open it up and give it some welly!
Unless you really want the X5, leave well alone, the X3 is good enough. The X5 alone will cost anything from £600 to over a grand, then you’ve got to find and buy and fit the gimbal mount for between another 120 to 180 quid (the X5 doesn’t fit the X3 mount).
Get as many batteries as you can, they are even rarer than rockin’ 'oss pooh, and cost accordingly, so if you find one for less than about £80 ish find out how many charges and snatch their hands off.
When you charge the batteries, if they start flashing at the 3rd light, it means they haven’t been looked after properly and they’re on the way out. There is a way to reset the battery computer, but that’s another story.
And keep Rob’s name to one side, he’s got the bits you’ll need when you break anything!

Enjoy!

John

The v2 comes with the X5 mount :+1:t2:

I didn’t see the v2.0, my bad. Never mind saves you 120 quid plus!

Thanks Rob. Just realised your not to far away from me actually. I’m only up in Basingstoke.

Depending on what firmware its on when it arrives , if it not on the latest fw 1.11 don’t upgrade it to that as its rubbish.

Agreed

Thankfully you can downgrade the Inspire firmware to any version you like

Basingstoke was a roundabout too far this morning!

I had to get to the old Arborfield REME barracks for a 1030 Covid test. Snow appeared by Waterlooville, A3 was one workable lane by Horndean and A325 seemed impassable after Bordon so I slid my way back home.

Perhaps we can get up to some Inspire flying later when summer and an end to lockdown happens

sounds good i took my Mini 2 up early in the morning to grab some photos but wish the inspire was here would of been a good test for it. ( I only got 1 wind warning on the Mini and that was a brown pants moment as it was not far off the South western main line ( 120m vertical 60 horizontal)

Potential this morniing for an Inspire fail!

The battery isnt too keen on the cold so if you give the aircraft welly from a cold takeoff you may get a dangerous voltage drop. DJI sold both a battery warmer and little insulated panels to prewarm the battery and keep it warm.

The problem is compouded by the semi-naked battery being exposed to the slipstream.

Treat the aircraft like you treat your Formula 1 car, give it a few laps to getxall systems warm before running off at full chat :sunglasses:

There’s a couple on eBay at the moment.

But I warn you now…

It’s a slippery slope
