Advice on DJI RC

OK, I’ve not yet unpacked my new Mini 3 pro yet as I need to get my head round some things, the main one being the RC remote (with a screen)
Currently when I fly my Air 2 I use my iPhone and wherever I am the maps are always there. How will this work with the new one?
Do I need a SIM card?
Are maps already on there?
Do I fly without a map?
Any views please
Mike

You can pre download maps to the RC of the areas you are visiting, thus not needing connection to a network, but you can also join your mobiles hotspot long enough to update too

@yorkie9668 Mark,Thanks buddy. So if I decide on a whim to go and fly and i’ve NOT pre-downloaded where i’m off to, purely by tethering to my iPhone the RC will do the necessary and i’ll have a map

Yes, just as if you are at home and connecting the RC to your WiFi, I always pre set it up with my mobile, so that I can connect easier, ie set your mobile to hotspot, make a not of the password and then on the RC search for new WiFi networks, join your phones and it will save it for use later, that is so long as your mobile has a signal.
Like I said above you are now able to download maps for storage on the RC memory card, I have done this for the whole Yorkshire region
