If your HDD is 95% full it will slow things down quite a lot. Plus when you say “on his account” you don’t have two accounts open at the same time do you?
But in any case, I think you have your mind set on a shiny new laptop anyway, that way you can use it when and how you like.

Dont kno about them hurting, I am hurting trying to edit it with the lag and not being able to sse it… Have to edit it, upload to YT to then watch it ad then g back and re-edit any issues before re-rendering and re-uloading, which makes for a very convoluted nd long work process - its mazing I am gettnig the results I am tbh…

That I can imagine hurts.

No, have not set a second account up n here in order to kep data to a bare minimum, so I log in as him to edit it and use the computer…

@AlbionDrones Just thinking …

You can add a lower (1080) res render job to queue in the Deliver tab, that will render quicker.

You can also just copy the timeline data to a new 30fps timeline (in the same project), that will render quicker.

Do both things, and you may find you can render quickly(er) and proof watch locally.

… and then only render 4k/60fps when it’s all tickety-boo.

Have it set to 1080 for watching alredy - a friend told me about that, but the 30fps timeline is a good idea…

This is the OS Disk C memory…

Ah - just 100GB almost full … not a 512GB. :scream:

My bad… sorry…

I think that is your problem Suzanne, your swap file/virtual memory has not got enough space to work effectively. try cleaning up space on your C: drive but I think you will still struggle, replace it with a larger SSD would improve it greatly in my opinion.

Thanks… Just managed to free up 1.5GB by uninstalling a program, and it is now playing the footage in Media playing, and running a lot quicker on the resolve player, but still laggy…

So, its either a new larger C drive, or a new computer… think we shall discuss this, TBH the new computer appeals to me as it means we can both be online at same time, and I wont be reliant in my works laptop… But that carrys a cost…

Thanks all, appreciate the help…

If you right mouse on the start icon, then hit “RUN”
Type Control, when the box pops up select System and Security
At the bottom select below WINDOWS TOOLS ~~~ Free up Disk Space

When that pops up select the C drive, it will start to check disk space, then when the next box pops up select “clean up system files”

Select C again, when the window pops up again select all items in the sliding window, a message will pop up asking for permission, select yes to ignore, it will delete any previous windows installation files.
Check the actual disk size before and after

I’ve had a read through and if I’ve missed somebody else saying this, please accept my apologies.

A hot computer will run slower, so it’s worth checking the fans and airflow paths are free of dust.

Also worth checking and deleting windows shadow copies?
