Advice regarding Mini 3 Pro using Pix4D with RC-N1 controller + Android

It appears Pix4D has finally added the Mini 3 Pro to its lineup which is great news however it only works with an Android phone and a connected RC-N1 controller.

I currently fly a Mini 3 Pro with an RC controller with the built in screen and Ive been using it to capture photos and create orthomosaics. I have been flying the M3P manually and it works however to be honest its an inefficient method capturing overhead imagery this way.

I am planning on buying an RC-N1 controller new (or second hand if in good condition) so if any for sale please let me know. I am also going to have to buy an Android phone to run Pix4D so please can someone recommend a suitable phone that can connect to the RC-N1 controller.

Many thanks.

I have a Huawei Mediapad M5 lite, I’ve just downloaded it and it connects ok

I would say any newish 64bit Andriod phone with at least 3GB RAM should do but best to ask the developers

PIX4Dcapture Pro has been tested with the following devices:

iOS: iPad Mini 5th gen, iPad Pro 2nd gen, iPad 7th gen, iPad Air 2, iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Android:
Tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, Samsung Tab Es 15, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, Lenovo Tab M10 Fhd Plus.
DJI Smart Controller Enterprise, DJI RC Pro Enterprise.

thanks for the info, very useful. Ive managed to source a Grade B RC-N1 controller from Heli-Guy so now just to purchase an Android phone to load Pix4D onto.

@RemoteIDsaveslives, just a question on yout tablet, I have a Mini3 Pro with rhe RC controller. I recently picked up a S/H RC-N1 and have been using it with a old Samsung S10 (Drone Tweaks) and really enjoy using it. The best part is having the sticks below the screen, you just don’t realise how your palms cover the corners of the RC screen and it sems far more robust. How do you finf the Huawei tablet in terms of screen brightness and processing power? I just find the S10 more responsive than the RC. Thanks

I don’t use it anymore as I have an iPad Mini 6, it’s just a test kit now for the likes of litchi etc

I bought it to use with my mini 2, it worked great at first but then DJI did some horrendous Fly app updates that caused it to lock up and crash sometimes

But since then they stopped the auto transfer of images to the device image folder it now seems to run the latest versions ok

If you strip out all the bloated apps and use it in Airplane mode it should be fine but with DJI updating the app constantly it may struggle in the future

Thank you for your reply, just been looking around at tablets. There isn’t much choice in mini Androids ! Do you find your iPad Mni auto dims with heat ?

When flying a Mini 3Pro with the RC screen controller I too have experienced a similar issue with my palms covering its corners.

Having recently bought a RCn1 controller to go with my Mini 3 Pro, I was looking to buy an android phone. As Im looking to test Litchi, Dronelink and Pix4D CapturePro for mapping purposes its been suggested I look to buy a tablet rather than a mobile.

The Samsung Tab Galaxy Active 3 has been recommended but Im interested to learn whether there are any alternative Android tablets that are up to the task. Also what Android version is best (eg Android 11, Android 12, Android 13 etc) in order to run Litchi, Dronelink and Pix4D CapturePro?
