Almost lost AIR3 over the Bealach na Ba

Well, another prop shedding this time at 360ft above the Bealach Na Ba viewpoint, managed to limp the drone back and crash landed - overturned it n landing, was like flying thu treacle…

Sadly, one leg now comes too far forward, so it is not useable as it stands, going to have to look at sending it away for repair when we get home…

Thankfully, I have the AVATA and the MINI3 Pro to use for the rest of the week, fingers crossed for a less eventful few days moving forward..

Lol, not a lot I can do when prop comes off mid flight, one of the 2 on the rear lh motor just came off, so it started to fly crabby, and I managed to bring it down and land - could have been far worse, and at least I got the MC with all todays footage on it back…

Damage on the AIR3 front leg after heavy landing…

Were there any warning signs that something was about to go sideways before the prop failed? This kinda thing is my worst nightmare!

Hi Ms AlbionDrones,

Really sorry to read of your misfortune. I always enjoy looking at your videos, ever hopeful that one day I might reach such a standard of competence - I wonder if DJI sells flying pigs. I suppose mechanical failures can happen to anyone and highlights why we should all fly within VLOS to stand a chance of getting the thing back. Easy to get complacent with the autonomous functions of (say) the mini 4 and fly out way beyond where we should only to suffer such a catastrophic failure, the subsequent loss and possibly worse.

Hope you’ll be able to get your drone fixed okay.

Not good, hopefully you get it repaired soon and back out flying

Nope, nothing, one moment if was fine, next a change in prop tone and a funny attitude and decent began…

Thanks hon, thankfully the trusty MINI3 Pro has done sterling work while we have been away, and I haven’t missed out on anything I wanted to fly…

Thanks, so do I… Mind you, Mighty Midge - my 3 yo MINI3 Pro has done well enough this week, glad I had it with us as a backup…

Certainly worth having a spare…might need to charge up the air 2 batterys and go into the middle of nowhere and see if it still work

Sorry to hear about the mishap Suzanne. Could the prop not have been fully clicked into place? Hard to understand how that could happen unless the moulded plastic gave way somehow. Good to recover it at least. The DJI repair fees are very reasonable. They’ll just replace it I’m sure.

Thanks hon, it was one of the props itself broke free from the housing, so I had 7 instead of 8 props…

Booked in, just need to sort it and send it off, and then wait for the quote…

Blimey, not heard of that before. If they were original DJI props, they may cover the failure. Sounds like some kind of manufacturing fault. Best of luck!

Not DJI ones, but I have learned my lesson, only kosher DJI props from now on

Tosiicop brand from Amazon… wwont be buying anything other than DJI in future… Masterscrews are usually pretty good though, had some on the AVATA in the past without issue..

Might be worth claiming the repair cost off them while holding off on a bad review. Presumably Chinese though, so probably a lost cause. Amazon might help?
