Alvingham, Lincolnshire - Two Churches, one Churchyard

The church with the tall tower is the only church in the country dedicated to St Adelwold, it is sited on the foundations of a 13th century Saxon church.

The church sits alongside its neighbour church of St Mary’s, which formerly served North Cockerington and is now in the care of The Churches Conservations Trust. Both buildings stand in the former grounds of a 12th century Gilbertine priory.

TOAL in the church grounds - parking is easy, there’s a car park about 50 yards away - and the approach is through a private farmyard. Or follow the Louth Canal and there’s a bridge with entry. I cycled in with no problems.
