Brilliant, more consolidation of my drone needs in one place, thank you.
FPVUK cancelled
GADC Membership updated
Awesome, I was looking at getting some 3rd Party Liability cover via BMFA, but this is even better!
Well done Grey Arrows admin and moderator team, excellent work - and a simple process to set it all up - GADC Membership updated, and I feel happier already having the 3rd Party Liability Insurance
I just checked Drone Cover Club and with the membership plus equipment cover up to £750 it comes to £189.90 with 12,000,000 public liability. With Coverdrone I have £450 airborne equipment and £500 ground based equipment and £1,000,000 public liability cover for £62.76 per anum for the same levels of equipment cover, I pay £5.23 monthly. Admittedly the public liability is a lot less but £1,000,000 covers most incidents.
I could add the clubs £5,000,000 public liability and still be quids in.
Would there be any issue having public liability insurance with more than one provider for the same thing?
Normally, with more than one insurance covering the same liability, provided all criteria are met for a claim against more than one, they all need to be advised and claimed against, and advised of the other insurers, and they share the cost of any successful claim. That sharing might be pro-rata to the cover they provide, I can’t recall, but that bit’s down to them anyway.
@OzoneVibe OK so as long as you claimed on both policies and advised them both of the other insurer then it would be fine.
To the best of my knowledge, that’s how it works.
Then I will consider adding the clubs £5,000,000 liability and become an Insured Member. If I do it now it will only cost me £12.50?
Excellent, I take this is what you were alluding to at the Big Meet @PingSpike …
You have until the 13th Aug to benefit from the reduced cost of upgrading.
From what I’ve been told by the various insurance companies I’ve worked with over the past 14 years; It is not advisable to have two lots of insurance for the same risk.
In the event of a claim the two insurance companies spend months, or years, arguing about who should pay out.
In my experience, in a corporate claim on product liability, they both agreed to the claim in normal time and paid - as I recall pro-rata to liability insured. One insurance was our own, the other was an international insurance by a parent company.
One we needed to be UK compliant, the other we had no choice over.
Far better to never need to claim, of course.
I’ll ask my contact for more details, but I believe there was a paragliding accident a few years back where the guy had cover from two different insurance companies.
It was tied up for a long time (several years is my memory) whilst the two insurance companies fought about who should pay the multi-million pound claim.
Probably less of an issue for a small claim.
I received an FPVUK email at 10:00 this morning…
…and it’s just my CAA operator ID renewal that they have been doing for me. The FPVUK membership renews soon. So I’ll read up on what OA16 is giving me and consider cutting loose from them.
I’ve just read above that GADC have been in many discussions with CAA, so it may be that OA16 becomes available here.
I think when I got it, it was to give me more opportunities to fly the Mavic Air 2. But now I have a Mini 2, that’s what I pull out to fly more places, not the Article 16.
Chances are this is the more relevant. Others have indicated that’s the case.
I filled in my Operator ID (because it prompted me), cancelled GADC membership renewal, clicked for the Insured Member subscription, et voila! Insured member!
Downloaded the certificate, and it is careful to say coverage is when flying according to the drone code.
Thanks for the continued support Andrew @BadManners
You can also download a membership certificate (which is different from your insurance cert) to print and frame on the wall too
I’m with FPVuk at the moment that covers Liability Ins Internationally, does GADC cover overseas as well?
Simple question I hope, with just a Yes or No answer.
If i publish my Drone footage on YouTube and get paid commission is this Business use?
