i’m in. really looking forward to it. see you all there
4 down, 12 to go.
Thank you, I hope it is going to be worth it as well. Not long now 7 days to go not that I’m counting or anything
Im going and had the joining instructions today, with the itinerary, maps and timings. Should be a good day.
I’ve not heard anything . I guess I’ve not made the list?
Guess I didn’t make the list either. Hope that we can do this again sometime. Gutted I can’t go… oh well!!
We look forward to seeing a running commentary from those that are attending on Thursday
Will be very interesting. Can’t wait to see what you all get up to .
We hope you enjoy your day today!
Please share your experiences
Hi, Just to let you know that I and a friend applied for this and were on the lucky list of 16. We responded to Mr. Ian Thompson with details of car for security and have not had a reply at all, so without any details of times, itinerary, directions or security passes, we will not take the chance of driving 65 miles each way to be refused entry on arrival. I hope all goes well for anyone else who has tried to get on this visit.
Given the very limited places for our members to attend this event, it is disappointing that you did not inform us, or Ian, before now.
Did anyone go waiting to hear how it went. what did you get up to.
We are eagerly waiting to here how the day went too
Just returned from the day what can I say.
Got near to the apron and saw the Prefect and Phenom doing circuits, before going into the hangar to get up close and personal to both aircraft. The cabin in the phenom is incredibly small, i’m 5’3” and struggled to stand up straight.
This was followed by taking the controls of both the Prefect and Phenom, but only on the flight sim which was brilliant. Everyone who wanted a go, got a go around Cranwell and the Welsh valleys.
Thank you GADC for organising this fantastic experience and thank you to Num3 FTS for hosting us.
For those of you that were unlucky this time, they are hoping to have another in the spring. good luck to those on the list.
sorry you missed out. there were some people on the list who did not show. and we were wondering why
Thanks for the update Roger @Modolincs, sounds like you had a great day out
You’re very welcome!
You have very modestly omitted that you successfully completed a simulated landing, well done!
It was a great afternoon out, and it was good to visit with the private pilots too for their experience and interesting stories. The staff we met were happy to answer as many questions as we could think up too.
It was a brilliant day out. And it was great meeting you all. And your landing of the Prefect was excellent!
Thanks for the kind words about the landing. although I hit the runway it wasn’t quite centre line. I was bang on the 86 knots over the threshold though.
Yeah, great day spoilt only by the rich private plane and helicopter owners that took snidy digs about drones when they thought nobody could hear them. One old guy (even before we got off the car park), came over and said “Oh you’re the lot we’re supposed to look out for”, and another (microlight pilot) said they he’d been hit by a drone at 2500 ft, but didn’t report it to the CAA, when I asked him about it, he just walked away!
Many thanks to Thommo and the guides and No 3 FTS for having us.
Oh, and it’s very easy to do a reverse, tail first vertical landing in a Phenom jet!!!
