Anderton Boat Lift - Added to Rivers and Canals in North West

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission requirements unknown.

I parked in a little lay-by just over the footbridge as it was quiet it was ok but not sure how it would be on a busy summers day but there was plenty of dog walkers etc more intrigued to see photos than complain.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 03/01/2022. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

Excellent, I’ve been meaning to fly here for quite some time now!

It was very quiet when I was there so perfect conditions really and fantastic to see from other angles

I’ve visited a few times as a tourist, but never flown.

Might be a nice place to organise a little meet-up, outside of their opening hours.

I’ve just added a new Parking marker to this location @Shreka :slightly_smiling_face:

I want to fly here @Shreka, have you got any tips or advice on where to take off from?

The Canal and River Trust, don’t allow TOAL from the canal side towpaths ( unless you’re part of a film crew and have paid to do so). Nothing to stop you flying your drone over if you TOAL from public land. ( they still seem to think they own the airspace over the canals, a bit like NT )
:wink::wink::wink::wink:

Done it loads of times, who is ever going to stop you :thinking:

Agreed.

I’ve been walking the local canals every day for the last eleven years (just over 10,000 miles walked now), I’m still yet to see a single employee in all that time / distance.

You’ve got better odds of winning the lottery than you have of being quizzed by a Trust employee :smiley:

I don’t doubt that anyone could/ would stop you. I’ve flown down at our local canal before. If you check on their website, you’ll find their statement re flying drones and filming. As I said previously, they take a similar approach to the National Trust. They don’t seem to realise the free publicity they’d get :wink::wink:
