Anycubic Kobra X - New multi colour printer

This was first multicolour, now looking at slicer and finding out what is different to the Centauri Carbon version as its all Orca based it’s mostly the same.

Not got to TPU yet, the filament profile is no longer in the slicer, I must have screwed it up somehow.

Moaned too soon.

A good moan works wonders.

First print. The inevitable “poop bin”(white). 1hr 10min.
In the foreground, a straightforward box (yellow) which I seem to recall taking around 3hr on the Ender 3.

It’s fast.

Any news?

a quick reply asking me to check connections, install attached firmware (how firmware is going to fix a connection issue!!!) and export log file.

to which I replied,

Hello Bell and team,

Thank you for your prompt reply, I have been trying to get all the information for you but the printer will not show the main screen, all I get it now is the error 11412, so I am unable to check firmware or export logs.

I did check and re seat the cables at both ends, but no change from above. I have attached photos showing the cables in place.

The printer is faulty and as under a week old I require a replacement, I will package this printer up into its original box awaiting your instruction.

Thank you.

Man, that sucks. Hope you manage to get it sorted, although I can’t imagine it’s going to be a quick process.

Update,

After emails back and forth with Anycubic, saying I want a replacement unit, I finally decided to accept parts to repair.
They are still shipping out backlog of pre order units, so a replacement would be ages.

Today I got a new motherboard and print cable.

Just fitted the cable as that’s the easy one, don’t like swapping 2 parts at once so I know what the problem component is.

Test print just started, finger crossed.

Fingers crossed for you RIch, I am really tempted with the Flashforge Creator 5 Pro

The bastard motherboard waited until I hit “reply” before throwing the error.

Open heart surgery now.

Best of luck. Hope it works.

I have to say, I’m loving mine. Compared to the old Ender 3, I can actually design things the right size, knowing that they’ll be the right size and fit for purpose when I print them. And the prints are so much cleaner and faster. An no pissing about ferrying gcode files between hardware on SD cards. If I really want to, and there’s a model already available, I can do everything from my mobile. Complete game-changer.

Well its working now, I did notice the touch screen is a lot more responsive, before I needed to press quite firm.

Will give it a few test prints before I confirm to Anycubic.

Oh they offered me a roll of filament as compensation, now where did I see that roll of Gold plated Diamond sparkle CF-PLA…

Guess what, this morning got this

So, after double checking all connections and getting same message, they got this by email.

"Hello Support team.

I fitted both the new cable and motherboard as your instructions.
Updated the firmware when the printer connected to network, did a full reset from the start allowing all tests to complete.
The printer is again showing similar error messages, after each one I have checked all connections, I enclose a photo with time stamp of several of these messages along with a photo showing the motherboard with firm connections.

*I am not going through any more checks or repairs, I want either a replacement or a full refund as I have lost all faith in this unit. *

I will wait 1 week, if I have not had either full refund or replacement I will be raising a chargeback for faulty goods.

This is my final say in the matter.

R Bright."
