Anycubic Kobra X - New multi colour printer

hhmmmm, with the delay of the multi colour unit for the Centauri carbon this has got me thinking and my wallet twitching!!

Currently £260 (until 24 Feb). I think it’s time to upgrade the old Ender 3.

Edit: Automatic bed levelling, network connectivity, remote monitoring and automatic failure detection alone are worth the price of entry. Never mind multicolour printing.

:man_facepalming: I want it, just for that SF2 diorama. I have no other need for it and my toy fund is shaking its head at me.

That sure is good bang for the buck, however:
the colour bleeding would really annoy me, as would the increased print time and excessive waste needed to purge fully to fix it. I think if I needed colour printing at the moment it would probably be the Snapmaker. It’s not in the same price bracket though.

Just ordered the kit with Ace Pro, see what it is like, if as good as it looks I will put my H2D Laser up for sale, takes up0 too much space and I never use it’s full features

Why does the title of this thread say Elegoo Centauri Carbon when the new printer in question is the Anycubic Kobra X?

@moderators, if you’re going to moderate titles for clarity, they should be correct. :peace_symbol:

Serviced swiftly and with style.

Nice work, ninja editors.

I was briefly concerned it was an AI-powered auto-moderation, picking up on the only printer that had been mentioned.

Which in turn reminded me of a poster from the 80s:

To err is human. To really fuck things up requires a computer.

Remember buying posters from Athena?

In a very hypothetical situation, if someone completely new to 3D printing were looking for yet another bottomless pit into which to toss their money by joining the 3D-printing community, would something like this be a good starter printer (accepting that very few people have actually used a Kobra X yet)?

Or would such a person be better off looking for something from Bambu Lab to start with?

I would normally recommend Bambu Labs for the very fact that they made 3D printing fun for me after a failed attempt with Creality, but these newer bed slingers with multi colour are getting better and better all the time, pound for buck this is a great deal so long as you snag it before the price goes up, I very much doubt you’ll have any issues with it, and they also have a great community like Bambu Lab do www.makeronline.com

Thank you, and would four colours be fine for a beginner to start with?

I see you ordered the eight-filament hub.

Yes only so I am ready if I choose to get one of their AMS equivalents, I currently have 9 plus external feed for TPU on my H2D, but in all truthfulness I have only ever used 5 colours at a push, and I started on 1 colour, so 4 to start with is good, give you a chance to learn

Oh and you can still use Bambu’s Makerworld for files, just join up and download the .3mf files and open them in the AnyCubic program and print, print
