Happy days, I just got my authorisation to fly on Saturday in Blackpool’s ATZ.
quite painless. filled in the form last Saturday, got the e-mail back today.
Flying up and down the main runaway?
Used to fly from Squires Gate back in the mists of time, back when Air Atlantique were flying Dakotas and if you knew the right people Manx kippers could be had fresh from the Isle. We flew a Cessna 172 and I used a Canon A-1 with lenses from 28 to 300 and 70 36 exposure rolls per flight. Aerial photography is a touch easier nowadays (though we never landed in the sea).
We were taking pictures of houses for sale door to door by the sales guys. It involved individual shots of isolated properties or several passes from different directions to photograph houses in a village. One time we were landing and a car followed us down the runway - “You’ve been flying around and around [name of hill]. Don’t you know it’s secret?”
“Well, we do now!”
What are you going to be photographing?
I’m doing a roof inspection of Ramp City, they’ve got a few leaks which need to be identified.
Bummer is the permission is only valid in the grounds of Ramp City otherwise I’d be having a field day.
Bonus is that I take my little lad there every Saturday so even if the weather is bad it’s not a wasted trip.
Na FPV racing through the hangers then going to Buzz the control tower.
I feel the need the need for speed. My mavics now called Mavrick.
You could chase planes …
Actually … that guy’s Instagram account had some amazing FPV! Worth a browse.
