Any flight data to share @Tidepool ?
Good question, I haven’t even looked since I got home.
I’ll dig out the ipad.

@milkmanchris. I’ve reviewed the log and it looks like the altitude is all over the shop at the end…possible VPS confusion as suggested
At least the screenshot below shows I was trying to climb, not stupidly descending.
If anything, it looks like the “landing site” is further out than I thought. I haven’t taken any measurements yet.
I can share the whole thing if that helps, but I’ve not done that before.
I’ve spent a happy 40 mins extracting the flight data from my ipad using Fscking itunes, hate it!
Then simply uploaded to Airdata:
Interesting and uncomfortable reading
Exactly, even with the controls set to climb, why the F* did it set Confirm_Landing???
The GPS can also get confused flying low over water. The signal is refected from the surface so the drone picks up various signals and gets confused. Perhaps flying in ATTI mode would help. I’ll try it with the Phantom sometime and see what happens.
From a look at my M2Z logs from a flight last night, the other sensor kicks in at 12.3m or below, although the Airdata log shows that as “sonar altitude”.
Theres a lot of downward movement on the sticks towards the end of the flight
Note to self: downward over water is worst enemy.
Sorry for your loss - can only imagine all the emotions you felt at the time and afterwards. I came across this in Youtube with a guy flying the MA2 - Brand NEW DJI Mavic Air 2 at the bottom of the RIVER!!! My First Flight - YouTube.
I wonder if it’s worth reporting to DJI and have them look over the flight logs? They may even offer some discount on your next purchase if they think there is any liability on their side.
Either way I hope you get back out flying again soon.
Yes, it’s a great lesson not to mess with water at low altitude, I’ll keep further away in future.
I don’t remember doing that much downward, but the log is what happened.
I think I was trying to get in position to follow my friend’s MA2 skimming over the water at the end of the groynes.
Living on the coast, I will want to fly at the beach and over water, but will have to set new limits with whatever I get.
Maybe save up for a Swellpro drone
Probably just a generic term for that field.
M2 definitely uses TOF.
IMHO that’s the answer then, too low.
I’ve found that it goes out the window if you’ve tweaked the Ascent/Descent speed - out by 10M or so after a full bore 8m/s ascent followed by a 7m/s Plummet
VPS picks the correct alt when it’s about 10M from the dirt
