Bamburgh Castle - Added to Castles and Fortifications in North East

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission requirements unknown.

Take off and land from the Crown Estate Foreshore. The Dunes are an area of special scientific interest for flora and fauna.

I flew some distance from the Castle itself and didn’t overfly but I did go around the perimeter.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 08/06/2022. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

Hi

I flew a drone from the beach here in June/ July and was asked by a bird warden to take it down as drones disturb nesting birds. He wasnt offensive about it and I immediately took the drone down because I thought he was quite reasonable. Just be aware

I want to fly here @markas, have you got any tips or advice on where to take off from?

Added a couple of markers, i took off from the beach when I visited but if the council car park is quiet it is easy enough to take off and land from there too.

I know the area well, if I can chip in. Look on the map at a wee road called the Wynding, there is free parking up there in at least two off road places plus some layby parking too, it’s visible on Google maps.

Bird nesting season is usually given as May to July if there’s any issues with the SSSI there.
