Batteries - All the same?

Hello All,

Are batteries interchangeable between different models of drone? Is there any standardization between manufacturers? Do they go their own way? Is there a third party vendor for batteries?

Regards

Chas

Quite the opposite - it’s rare for a battery from one drone to fit another drone from the same manufacturer, never mind a different manufacturer

The exeption is FPV drones - as long as they have the correct size XT connector for the size/voltage drone

I believe the DJI Mini 3 pro batteries will fit in the mini 4 pro, but the mini 4 knows its a different battery and will warn you as such due to the weight limit. Basically it thinks its a plus battery as its heavier than the supplied one and will put the drone over its 250g’s

Not sure if that means the mini 4 pro battery can go into the Mini 3 - but as they are all smart batteries it may fit, but does not mean it will work.

If you are asking about the XT8 drone they seem to in a case that makes them drone specific.

However inside the case they appear to be a 3.7v 600mah lipo.

The only question that remains is the connector as these can vary wildly.

Thanks everyone. I am quite amazed at the lack of standardization. If we think about cars, all the hundreds of makes and models there are throughout the world. More or less, they all use the same 8 designs - the majority use 4.
My thought was that, I have only 3 batteries. So, an absolute maximum flying time of 30 minutes before recharge. If I had more batteries and/or a higher ampere hourage, I could get a longer flying time. The same place that you suggested, @Howard78 also sells the batteries, so it will work out in the end.

Yes it’s possible to get higher ampage batteries and use them.

I did with an old Syma drone that I learnt to fly with but that didn’t have the protective case around them as your drone appears to have.

They also tend to be physically bigger so may not fit the case if that is removable
