Battery power consolidation

I have a distinct memory of reading something about a new feature for DJI battery charging racks.
I believe I read that you can effectively put 3 batteries in the charging rack, and it will work out which has the most charge, and will use the other 2 batteries to top it up. This means that instead of 3 partially charged batteries, you end up with 1 [possibly] fully charged battery and 2 depleted batteries.

I can’t find any mention of this now … did I dream it? Was it for another model of drone and not the Mini 4 Pro?

I’ve never heard this, maybe it was a dream :sleeping_bed:

:man_shrugging:

On the air 3 this can be done, I thought mini 4 pro as well but I don’t think it does.

It does this on the Avata 2 I believe.

Yep with the air 3 you can use it as a power bank too, here’s a vid explaining

According to the manual for the Mini 4 Pro (Pages 67 & 68 in the manual that I am looking at):

Using the Charging Hub
When used with a USB charger, the DJI Mini 3 Pro Two-Way Charging Hub can charge up to
three Intelligent Flight Batteries or Intelligent Flight Batteries Plus in sequence from high to low
power level.

The battery with the highest power level will be charged first. The rest will be charged in
sequence according to their power levels.

That’s the case with all DJI charging hubs dating back to the OG Phantom and Spark days.

They definitely can’t take power from the other batteries though

Ah, sorry, I misread the question.

Although…

Out of sheer curiosity now, has anyone ever plugged one DJI charging hub in to another DJI charging hub?

As I believe the USB C is input only you would have to use the USB A on one in to the USB C of the other. I have tried to drain mine to 60% to put away after rain stopped play and the power bank started charging the hub over USB C, only worked when using the A on the hub.

Thanks Rob …. I was sure I’d seen it somewhere, but thought it applied to the Mini 4.
At least I now know that DJI call it ‘Battery Accumulation’

Thanks …. I can stop searching the user guide over and over!

@BudgieUK I must apologise, I’ve never heard of this being possible on any DJI drone before now :scream:

@PitchFader @Rob50 @Onanist thanks for the confirmation that it is possible on some DJI models

Charged the mini 3 batteries using a mavic 2 battery and the usb adapter from the flymore kit.

You’re welcome bud, it’s a great feature! I run my batteries to about 35% so after 3 flights I can put em all in and get a full battery. It’s pretty quick as well to be fair.

I am thinking: whatever model it is, put the two lowest batteries in the charging hub, then use it as a power bank to charge the battery in the drone. Will that work ?

Nice idea …. I suspect it’s not the most efficient method, but it would work. The main downside is you have to ground the drone while you do it, but it’s a useful idea :+1:t3:
