Both I think! I am also hoping that it implies that I am supposed to be there, perceived to be doing something purposeful and specific, perhaps as some kind of public service, as opposed to playing with a toy and causing a nuisance for my own gratification.
A person’s perception is their reality. I agree an anti-droner is a hater with a fixed perception that all drones are evil, and will act accordingly - unlikely to be able to change that subliminally with a high viz or through rational conversation.

A couple of years back there was a run where a lady asked a guy in high vis to mind her kids while she ran. She assumed he was one of the organisers. He went off with the kids, he was a wrong’un! (I am pretty sure that’s a PC word for it)…
it’s really interesting that most people wouldn’t give a stranger their kids to look after but put them in a high viz…
Hmmm This has given me an idea, next time her indoors holds me to account. I’ll first ask if I can ware my high visibility vest.

Ha ha I bought one and it scares the hell out of those annoying people who want to know what you are doing. I had one person about turn when I said Sir for your safety please walk away…just brilliant best £6 I ever spent. Think about it if you do have this it would be difficult for a fool to argue they didn’t know what you were up to

just a point of discussion . would waring a hi-vis vest be a good thing or a bad thing.

Surely a hi viz would make you more approachable? 
make people more inquisitive. “Oh look over there, he looks important, let’s go see”
18 months later, not a single person has ever approached me while in my hi viz

I think it’s a great idea and I’ve ordered one that says ‘CAA Registered Drone Operator’. It’s a statement of fact and as has previously been mentioned, it’s better to confidently and proudly state what you’re doing.
Did you go for the clipboard and hard hat too, it makes the get up complete
