Be very careful when hand launching your drone!

No idea how I managed it! Hand launching as there was no suitable ground and it took a chunk out of my thumb on the way up!

That’s why I never go droning without superglue. Works well on plastic … and even better on skin.

Although, thinking about it, that might serious screw with the compass. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ouch!

Do you use the start motors then then hold joystick up technique, or the start motors and bounce the drone technique?

I’ve been bitten both ways, but the bounce technique only got me when I was stupid to try it when I was sitting down, and it’s my favourite. I’ll explain more if asked.

Too many hands needed with both.

Just click to takeoff

What’s the bounce technique?

I just hold it out arms length and up a bit then hold launch on the screen and let go when it pulls away.

Related to the danger when taking off from a bobbing boat. (See simulation.)

With the motors running in idle, just bobbing it up and removing your hand and it goes into hover automatically.

No need to use any launch buttons, just start the motors and give it a little nudge up, it will hover.

Or just lower your hand quickly.

Yep, I think the term I was really looking for was “a little nudge up”, down works well also. Post edited.

I was more letting people know the options, rather than any right/wrong.

Of course, there are times when throwing up might work better …
