Beacon Hill Hillfort - Added to Castles and Fortifications in South East

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission not required.

TOAL was from the West side of the hill, overlooking the Highclere Estate. Free parking is available just off the A34, followed by a steep 20 minute walk up a path called Beacon Hill Walk. Note, it is can get VERY muddy at the bottom of the path. About half way up, the mud turns to chalk and grass.

Beacon Hill Hillfort is 300m by 200m, and dates back to the late Bronze Age period. No formal excavation has taken place, but there have been finds, including spear tips, axeheads, bronze bracelets and Roman coins.

It is also the resting place of the 5th Earl of Carnavon, famous due his discovering the Tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings, Cairo, Egypt in 1922.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 01/01/2022. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.
