Looking at your pic, you’ve pretty much got all the essentials to make it fly. :+1:t2: Only really missing the VTX for the FPV side of it :+1:t2:

All you guys have been great. gunja99 has been very supportive and helpful with my questions.

Top Tip for your Build:

pick one of these up :+1:t2: Believe me, I wish I had :man_facepalming:t2:

Well the ironic part of it is I have 4 of them in my parts box but I didn’t fit one to the wing because I figured it’s huge I won’t lose that! Well how wrong was I

Another worthy investment for ya:

Ā£8 odd quid is well worth it to stop you frying your electronics :ok_hand:t2:

I’m not sponsored by ViFLY by the way they just make good products

I think it will be the Eric and Nicola build, I built the board this afternoon for him :joy:

Looks like a decent job at the soldering, i got red and yellow rows mixed on mine but it doesn’t matter.

Mine’s a Heewing T1 Pro, SpeedBee 405Wing and O3 unit.

There’s a 6 wire cable that comes with the Flight Controller for fitting the O3 (it’s the longest one) much longer then the one that comes with the O3 unit. I cut the yellow SBUS cable as you don’t need that and less wires the better.

O3 can get hot without airflow so try and account for that somehow. O3 in quads is open but the body of a wing is different. I bought some little Raspberry Pi heatsinks to stick to it and have air flow over them (O3 air unit is 30 by 30mm, so something around there is good, mines uses 4x15mm ones)

Edit: I’ve just seen you can attach it to the outside, good airflow, feels risky though :person_shrugging:

There is a buzzer on the FC but it relies on the battery staying connected, as Deano said a separate buzzer is a good idea.

The FC is a good budget choice, setting up in INav was pretty painless, beyond a few settings its mostly personal preference for things.

@RestlessZombi The AR Wing PRO has wooden floored compartments either side of the main hatch both of these compartments are in direct air flow by means of vent and exhaust :+1:t2: perfect for cooling.

Careful with viflys inside wings and wings. I ā€œthinkā€ they have a light sensor which means it won’t beep at night… it’ll just flash… Which on a quad is ok (unless night flying) but on a wing inside the compartments… I think this is the case but would need more testing/checking.

I’ve bought cheaper alternatives from Amazon which work fine.

From their site (thought better backup my comments lol)

Possibly why I thought some were duff in the past

ā€œSleep mode at nightā€ā€¦ Ummm no thanks

That is a very good point @GunjaFPV maybe the ViFLY mini might be a better option?

Still the same 100db just smaller with no sleep mode?

Yep, but the flashy light can be so useful when searching an area with another quad to find the downed plane
