I have a Mini 3 Pro with the RC controller but find the range limiting, especially in built up areas does anyone have the RC2 controller with the Mini 4 Pro? Does it help in this regard? I know the controllers are limited in the UK but I’m thinking of upgrading to the Mini 4 to among other things improve this. I’ve searched online and YouTube but can’t find a conclusive answer!
RC2
Transmitter Power (EIRP)
2.4 GHz: <33 dBm (FCC), <20 dBm (CE/SRRC/MIC)
5.1 GHz: <23 dBm (CE)
5.8 GHz: <33 dBm (FCC), <14 dBm (CE), <30 dBm (SRRC)
- external antennas too
RC
Antennas
2 antennas, 1T2R
Transmitter Power (EIRP)
2.400-2.4835 GHz: <26 dBm (FCC), <20 dBm (CE/SRRC/MIC)
5.725-5.850 GHz: <26 dBm (FCC), <23 dBm (SRRC), <14 dBm (CE)
technically… the only improvement would be the added 5.1ghz frequency transmission/ reception… as the transmission in the 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz frequency bands are the same in CE mode.
if you FCC unlock it, not that you should… but if you choose to then yes the RC2 has better transmission power 33dbm Vs 26dbm… but this is unlikely to be a drastic improvement due to the power transmission and transmission distance
Tech Note: Radio Power vs. Distance – SATEL USA.
it does have a better processor etc etc but as far as power unless you unlock it the power improvements won’t be utilised
Many thanks for that
@RadLesWell I’m about to upgrade from a m3Pro Rc to the 4 and Rc2 respectively Leslie for the same reason, poor signal. I have a few online friends who have upgraded and have reported significant improvement on signal, particularly in a suburban environment. I’ve not had 1st hand experience yet so I guess I’ll find out soon enough!
Benefits of DJI RC2 over DJI RC?
Range.
I’m thinking along the same lines. I’d be interested to hear your experience when you upgrade.
