Best 3D printer

Sorry Jez. Tangles on the spool are always 100% operator error…

Sorry, Rich. This is 100% not what is happening with my spool. It’s not knotted, it’s wound over the top of itself so tightly that it requires more force than the feed head can apply to loose it. Each time it has happened all that has been required it a firm tug to dislodge it. No unwinding or knots to undo.

Fair enough… that’s not a normal tangle.

Just heard about PCTG. Has anyone tried it yet? I’m just getting into nylon too, although having a few adhesion issues.

Ok, I had to dip my toe in at some stage , now I have stuck my whole foot in …

I have purchased a Ender 3 Pro and 6 filiments for £80.00 , I have just got home and the guy who I purchased it from said if I download some software on my laptop, it would setup the ender 3 pro for me ??? Not sure what I have to download , just sat it on the side for a minute while I scratch my head lol …
I noticed it even has a glass top cool …

Well done! That’s a great filament bargain. You’ll be fine until you turn it on!  That’s when the trouble starts.
I have to say though, cheap filament sometimes doesn’t work and you go around the houses trying to find out what the problem is.
Seriously though. I can thoroughly recommend the CHEP videos such as this one. Beginners Guide to 3D Printing using Creality Ender 3 - YouTube
As he uses, Cura is one of the most popular free slicers, I use Prusa slicer, which is another good free one. Good luck and have fun!

Thing is, that illustrates that there are as many different opinions as there are printers. Theres no “right answer”. I absolutely loathe PETG with every fibre of my being! I spent months and a lot of money on filament and mods trying unsuccessfully to get good prints with PETG. I get superb results with PLA and PLA+ and now TPU and Nylon. It depends a lot on your exact printer spec and the sort of printing you want to achieve. It’s a great feeling though, when you get everything tuned in and it just works!

It started before that when the wife seen me walk in with it she said, "What f…k is that now!!!

Thanks I have read up a bit , I have downloaded a Ipad Holder ready to try today …

Ive just placed the file in Creality Slicer and sliced it ready to put on memory card …

Let the fun begin

Nylon… Not some I’ve tried. Actually as an update for the quads think I’ll be going all TPU now (PLA and PETG both break too easy on my flying/crashng! style!) ! PETG for non quad items, if you can get it working, then is worth it IMO.

Personally I’d start with something small as some bigger prints can take hours.

You should start a new thread and that way if you have issues or don’t understand something you can ask us :+1:t2:

Starting point I would say is to learn how to properly level your print bed :+1:t2:

Thanks Deano for your comments,

I have downloaded a file to check the bed level … I have a few software programs and have been reading into it for a while …
I can start with something small , which I will have a look on Thingiverse for something small to start with …

Good advice thanks , :+1:

With the sun out , and my mini 2 and me metal detector I will be juggling hobbies …lol
If I get any problems , which I no doubt will, I will start a new thread …

Much appreciated…

I will add, I bought everything all in for £80.00, not just the filiment , ender 3 pro also …

I just read the post again and looks like I bought just the filiment for £80.00 lol …

Wow! What a bargain. That really is cheap filament. Free I would say!

How’s your bed adhesion with TPU? I’m having a little trouble with the latest roll.

Get yourself some eSun TPU from amazon its £30 a roll but its the best I’ve found for issue free tpu printing.

225 nozzle temp and 60 bed temp. All the rest of the settings the same as PLA.

Glass bed.

Link to the eSun TPU:

eSUN Flexible TPU Filament 1.75mm, 3D Printer Filament TPU-95A, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.05mm, 1KG Spool (2.2 LBS) 3D Printing Filament for 3D Printers, Transparent Orange Amazon.co.uk

That’s exactly what I’m using, eSun, I bought a 500g roll to try it. 225 / 60 (although my actual temps are about 3° under what it says).

The only difference is I’m using a PEI bed which normally sticks like sh** to a blanket.

I have a glass bed but it’s a bit of a fiddle to change it when I’ve got everything dialled in perfectly with the PEI.

I don’t think TPU plays nice with PEI I could be wrong. Ive no issues with it on the official creality glass bed the one with the black coating.

Oh and make sure to wipe the bed down with IPA before you start the print :+1:t2:

Oh and I also print my TPU straight out of a 50degree dry box.

I just read the previous post and I have levelled the bed , thought i try the cheap looking Pla green at 1.75mm , it seems slightly thicker than the rest … my 1st print the filament was lifting off the bed … after a bacon n egg sandwich i noticed how dusty the glass top was . So i cleaned the glass and up the temp in slicer from 200c to 210

Now to try again …

New silver filament and started again …so far all looks good …

IPA is your best friend :ok_hand:t2:
