With @Steviegeek trying out Betaflight gps rescue.
This mode is a failsafe or emergency procedure (when your vtx craps out) to bring your quad home. In general terms.
It worked real well 3 times.
Please do not try this at home. Go to a large field.
Tried it on my DC2 tonight - worked well despite 12mph crosswind. Location not ideal so I didn’t see if it would land successfully on its own
It doesn’t land. It drops. Trust me
That’d be a normal landing for me then
Did you have the failsafe set for rescue or just have it on a switch?
I tried it on the switch the other day and it works well.
I believe the default when it gets home is to.just drop too
I tried it within 100mtrs and it dropped
This was a quick LOS RTH test I did with my Nazgul when I first set up GPS. I had a Blade350QX with RTH that would return perfectly to 100ft above your head, and then land perfectly.
BetaFlight it appears takes a somewhat different approach
- scared the pants off me the first time!
But, it does absolutely work…
Could anyone help me set this up at all?
sure - what is the problem?
I set it to rth to see of it worked following steps from YouTube.
It ascended like it was set to ✓
It came back like it was supposed to ✓
Then it descended like a corkscrew of a radius of about 25 m until hitting the ground at about 20 mph … . But heres the thing i couldnt stop it … It was just not responding
hmmm - mind sharing your BF settings (page snapshot)? and how did you trigger the RTH (was it a switch set against the ‘GPS rescue’ mode)? How did you try to regain control?
