Now here’s a few shots of Black Nab at Saltwick Bay, Whitby, as I’ve never photographed it before!
I’ve photographed it a few times at ground level, usually with the wreck of the Admiral Von Tromp looming large in the foreground. To avoid the trek down to the beach (and back up again!) I flew the drone from the cliff top. A couple of hundred yards along the coastal path from the caravan site entrance there’s a section which gives a good view all the way to the Nab and the wreck. I had to fly very carefully, constantly turning the drone to check how far it was from the cliff. There’s a grassy ‘shelf’ halfway down the cliff by the Nab which was an additional hazard. Fortunately we had the place to ourselves. For once there wasn’t a soul around on the beach.
