Blaenavon Ironworks - Added to English Heritage in Torfaen, Wales

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Blaenavon Ironworks is a former industrial site which is now a museum in Blaenavon, Wales. The ironworks was of crucial importance in the development of the ability to use cheap, low quality, high sulphur iron ores worldwide. It was the site of the experiments that led to "the basic steel process" or "Gilchrist–Thomas process".

The ironworks is on the outskirts of Blaenavon, in the borough of Torfaen, within the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape, a World Heritage Site. The site is under the care of Cadw, the Welsh Government's historic environment service.

It is approximately 1 mile from the Big Pit national coal museum and adjacent steam railway so all 3 can be wrapped up in one visit to the area

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 19/05/2025. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location. Landowner permission may be required before taking off.

“English Heritage in Wales”

Keep your eye on the sheep next time you’re flying in CYMRU:wales: they’ll be out for revenge if they see that

lol - yes, i did think exactly that but that was the closest category. Having worked in Wales for 10 years, i was anticipating a reaction

The Welsh version of English Heritage is ‘Cadw’ (it means ‘keepers’). And, like English Heritage, they are sniffy about TOAL from their land!

I want to fly here @gasbag43, I’ve added it to the list of places I want to fly
