Storm Babet.
The wind is starting to pick up in the south already, but it will quickly swing to the east coast over the next day or two.

Well there go my plans for the current RTF comp
Hopefully calmer next week
Someone making a weekend trip to Scotland ??
I am going to the lake district next week for the first time, a solid 6 hour drive without stops.
I had such great plans as well.
Skye and Lewis / Harris on Saturday for a week - the forecast currently looks ok, assuming the wind and rain hasnt destroyed everything before we get there…
In Scotland they batter everything … Mars Bars, Pizza … the list goes on.
Don’t knock it until you have tried it… Deep fried Mars bar slices in tempura batter are not to be sniffed at… (Although a soggy whole Mars bar in chippy batter is amazing to eat, its also rather unhealthy for the arteries!)
Tried - Mars Bars and Pizza (not as a single item ) … wasn’t convinced.
Not just northern Scotland mate, although they are bearing the brunt. I’m just outside Perth, we were included in the red warning late on, yesterday afternoon. It was an interesting drive home from Turriff yesterday, my wee white van does not like the wind. Had to dodge round numerous downed trees and through countless floods. But, I got home safe and sound after a 3 hour drive. Got up this morning at 5am to find the power out, got the candles out, wood burner lit and boiled a pan of water for some strong black coffee. My own mobile is currently sitting on the one windowsill in the house where it gets a signal and broadcasting a hotspot so I can type this on my works phone. There are power outages all over Scotland, roads blocked by trees and floods, but at least it’s reportedly calming down around lunchtime. Don’t know if I’ll get off my road later this morning, it was badly flooded last night and only just passable, hasn’t stopped raining since
Hey committee is there going to be another drone rescue badge here…
Although Chris can award it himself. LOL
Someone in Scotland will find it long before he can get there to rescue it himself.
I don’t even think it would be found in Scotland, Dave. Still mental up here in some areas, fortunately it’s started calming down where I am. Which means it’s now time to put the chainsaws in the back of the van for some firewood scavenging
When the blow-away drone crashes through your lounge windows at 90mph you would.
I’ll be going out with the drone tomorrow to get footage of the flooding, wind is meant to die down.
This is the Queen’s Bridge in Perth, not my pics, blatanlty stolen from the courier and record
The floodgates are working for now, but if they decide to open the dam at Pitlochry, like they did in 91, the floodgates won’t make a difference.
Thick fog at Southampton Airport … 2 hours of circling for the one from Jersey …
Update: 09:30
The Jersey plane has now bogged off back to Jersey - low on fuel.
The Dublin plane continues circling … for now. Only been circling for 1 hour.
Update: 10:40
1 attempt at a landing and overshot … and now looks to be off to land somewhere else …
An Easyjet from Paris “having a go” …
… and landed.
