Bloody weather! ... and flyability

Took the Air2 out to video demolition work on a local pub - mostly managed OK but at one point the wind caught it and it was on its way to the North Pole :frowning:

Switching to Sport mode and reducing altitude sorted it though :slight_smile:

The M5 signs in Devon / Somerset are currently advising motorists on very high winds for Friday.

I almost expected the next sign to say ‘watch out for drones flying at high speed’

:joy:

I would love to try and fly - but not confident enough haha!

Just got back home from a trip to south Devon.

Maiden flight of my Mini 2 yesterday… Gust caught it right at the edge of connection range and lost signal… Squeaky bum moment for about 30 seconds before the screen jumped back to life with the familiar beeping of RTH having kicked in… Generally it handled well in the wind… Good test… Killed two birds with one stone! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I flew Mini 2 in this wind (below), this week, and it handled itself well enough I flew another two batteries. I have learnt to not push the limits of the Mini 2 battery in wind, and so I land early. Remaining battery seems to go down very quickly when pushing against winds.

The Mavic Air 2 I flew in this wind (below), and it was very capable, and stable enough for Quickshots

@MartG1960
That image is really sharp, I see it’s from a MA2 but what, if any settings away from auto was used? also did you use any of the supplied filters? I can’t seem to get stills of any decent quality and, no I do not want to use any Photshop type app. I only what comes out of the camera, (yeah, old fashioned i know!)

It’s actually a screenshot from 4K60 video - all settings on auto, no filters as it’s a cloudy day

Thank you, even better!

Glasgow just now.

Get out there John :+1::smirk:

We need a bigger tree!

Sadly, work has got in the way of any droning so far this week :unamused: Not fair!

AND WERE OFF! To the UAV Forecast races :crazy_face:

Here’s my area just now, we have seen lots of rain and the wind is just starting to kick in. As an aside, thanks for making me learn how to go take screenshots from my phone. Didn’t know how to do that until now :smile:

Seeing all these UAV screen shots is like weather porn for Chris and I :joy: :heart_eyes:

Well that :point_up: is hard to follow …

It’s worst at the mo, then calms down after 7pm (according to the weather maps).

That is so funny - LOL! However, as we work through the storm season (I long ago gave up calling it “Winter”) I know exactly what you mean. I now have UAV Forecast website open most of the time and the UAV Forecast app open on my phone - just so I can spot windows in in the weather.

What a coincidence, I was just watching one of the “Ensign Vorik” episodes.
