Boat Take Offs / Landings

If you haven’t crashed you’re not flying properly

Never said I haven’t crashed! The old 3 had a few scrapes over the last few years, not the 5 though.

Just tested out the theory, no issues whatsoever. S mode so all sensors off, and just reverse it and grab it. Simples.

It is on dry land! Get yourself a good choppy sea and a stiff wind and you might think differently.

I did a lot of this recently in Philippines - boat moving slowly but in meaty off shore swells around El Nido. Pick a spot on the boat you intend to land on (I chose a hatch about 3’ square and away from the masts/lines. Then use sport mode and move the sticks real slow. You have to ‘commit’ to landing rather than waiting for the perfect moment but unless the boat is listing at 20° or more you’ll be just fine … if it’s listing that much, you’ll be the one who needs to practice your own crash free landing!!!

Just in case smething *does8 go wrong:

Make sure your first aid kit includes plenty of needles, surgical silk, morphine and bandaging materials

The video above shows that the drone physically wont land on a moving vessel. Were you hand catching?

Is that image drom a drone incident?

Im sure it will be more challenging than the garden but, at least the method works!

But it’s a drone worth nearly £1k, and Care Refresh costs are peanuts

Now try the same whilst you are jumping up and down … just saying :man_shrugging:

In sport mode I found it lands fine -

Another video? Gladly. In the boat you can have as many goes as you like… there be no rush.

Why don’t I set up a trampoline and reverse it into my path on that and grab it? List is endless.

Might look into it again.
