Bracknell. DJI Neo and various other planes and heli's

Introducing myself as old flyer/new member. Had various radio control cars/aircraft/boats for many years. Even worked in a R/C model shop when I was younger.
For anyone searching “Bracknell” on this site the following may help though it should be noted I’m not a lawyer…
Bracknell Forest council have a blanket ban on their land though it should be noted that if they wanted to prosecute you it would be a civil matter, not a police one. In reality, myself and my son have been flying small stuff around here for years with no issues. As long as you don’t piss anyone off or go to large, you should be fine.
The only actual laws are in place for Lilly Hill Park and The Greenways so don’t fly there. I’m not sure the one in Lilly Hill Park would be enforceable in court seeing as it’s dated 1976 and also says you can’t ride a bicycle in the park, yet the council put a cycle path through the middle of it. Bylaws have to be still relevant or they are considered un-enforceable (as I understand it). Also, the maximum fine is set in the bylaw at £20 so…
If you want to follow all the rules, you can write to the council and show you have insurance, are responsible etc.. they will give you permission to fly at Priory Fields between 12 and 4 on Sundays. Not a particularly interesting place but there you go.

Hi @JayR

Are you sure about that?

Drone Scene is showing that Bracknell Forest Council have no byelaws and no policies relating to the recreational use of drones from their land.

More information here:

Yes, I’m sure. I have copies of the bylaws and email from the council dated 2 weeks ago.
I’d never totally rely on Drone Scene or any similar app as they doesn’t cover quite a lot of local restrictions and ‘rules’.

Could you share your documents and the source of the information?

They seem to conflict with the Bracknell Forest Council response below?

The clip you posted states it. Nothing specifically for ‘drones’ but ‘model aircraft’ not allowed. A drone is a model aircraft.

It’s possible that they added the below page for drones after the reply they gave highlighted in your post.

Their current webpage on the use of drones…

As I said, two bylaws and overall rule.

Sorry for any confusion @JayR

My query was in reference to the “blanket ban” that you said they had:

There are only two specific locations affected across the entire borough - which you named in your first post.

Bracknell Forest Council does not have a blanket ban on drones

Do you not see that web page I posted? Bracknell council website. “We currently have one open space in the borough where model aircraft or drones may be flown.

In the entirety of land controlled by Bracknell Forest Council they say you are only allowed to fly in one field and even then, only after jumping through hoops.

What would you call that if not a blanket ban !

I just joined this forum and my first ever ‘Introduction’ post in which I gave some useful information seems to be filled with replies stating that I’m wrong and don’t know what I’m talking about, while those same people proving in their own posts that I was correct all along.
Please tell me that being argumentative just for the sake of it isn’t the norm on here as I’d actually like to engage and gain/give useful advice.

Wishful thinking on their part

Bit like National Trust, they try to put everyone off flying too

Enjoy all the places you can fly in Bracknell and cross the two that you can’t fly off your list :slightly_smiling_face:
