Just checked it and you’re right, I can set it all the way up to 1640ft… I won’t though!

Your right and will not just affect the hobbyists the people that earn a living from it to and have paid a lot of money for there licences and the caa will kick back eventually and it will be spoilt for the hobbyist side of things there’s enough information out there on rules and regulations it’s just stupidity Selfishness

The issue with these online ADS-B services is that they are only as accurate as the access to remote receivers allow. A case in point. When an aircraft is on approach to LBA from the North West it’s true location will change quite dramatically. More often than not aircraft on this same approach path will appear to overshoot the runway and land on the Leeds Townhall.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is often busy in this area, due to the number of Lycra clad loons that keep falling off their bikes, and will seldom appear on sites such as Flightradar24 as no one runs an ADS-B receiver in this very hilly area. Aircraft will only appear when they are at least 2,000ft agl and of no risk either way to aircraft or drone.

A few years back I built my own ADS-B receiver for sh1t5 and giggles and even though I could hear the aircraft on the runway l couldn’t pick up the ADS-B signal(1.090GHz), even when the receiver was mounted on a 60ft tower, as the aircraft was on the opposite side of a big hill. I could still pick up the transmissions from aircraft over 200miles away but they were cruising at 30,000ft and obviously of no risk to my Spark.

I’ve recently become involved in drones, so the evolution of regulation within the drone industry is interesting to observe. As someone who has been heavily involved in commercial aviation and general aviation for many years interacting with the UK CAA and EASA, including being on the committee tasked with the ANO 2016 rewrite and creating EASA responses for General Aviation, there’s clearly a recent regulatory expansion within the drone world as technology and capability evolves.

Reference the above comments, CHIRP is the Confidential Human factors and Incident Reporting Programme and has programmes involved in most areas of aviation. It was created to enable internal reporting of incidences within the industry which do not fall within the MOR/ECCAIRS schemes. This might be reporting incidences due to internal or external influences but is not intended as a method for the public to report a drone code violation.

Education is key to drone users better understanding the regulations and requirements to safely operate drones within the airspace system. Undoubtedly breaches of the drone code will take place, and it is our job as responsible users to educate others in order to prevent further restrictions to our existing privileges.

Regarding use of ADS-B exchange, the information is generated from multiple ADS-B receivers around the world. This has the benefit of showing unfiltered flight data unlike websites such as Flight Radar 24. You can create a feeder yourself using a USB DVB-TV receiver or dedicated device. These still rely upon line-of-sight for reception of information from the aircraft, so anything which does not achieve that with the associated receiver will not be shown on the chart and therefore should not be relied upon.

I have seen this aircraft a few times their head office is in Croxteth Liverpool and I think its used to ferry directors around. It lands on a random car park opposite a Smyths toy shop.

I did st mine to 120m but a couple of times i had to go higher to re-establish connection with my MM. Works every time

On a clear day I can just about see the orientation of my M2P at 350m out, so I have my maximum distance set at 300m. I figure if I want to go further than that I should probably have to make a conscious, physical choice to do it… as a reminder that my eyesight sucks. :wink:

It’s stated in ANO 2016 which comes with the PfCO Permission to Fly. Number 3 (part c). Permission is given for VLOS flight to a maximum of 500m horizontal flight.

Yup - that’s already been covered a couple of weeks ago.

Or walk closer to the drone ;o)
