Breaking the speed limit [FPV DRONES] - How fast is your drone? Find out on our leaderboard!

The Drone Code limits how high we can fly, along with how far (VLOS). What they don’t restrict, is how fast we can fly. So with that in mind, just a bit of fun, what’s the fastest you’ve ever flown your drone? :grimacing:

Post as many entries as you like, no limit on how old the flight was (or how recent). Only one of each aircraft type / size will occupy the leaderboard  Entries must include a screen shot showing eight or more satellites and a link to your video showing the OSD summary when you land.

Members worldwide are able to participate and will earn the Speed Freak badge if they beat a current position on the Leaderboard, but only UK members will featured on the Leaderboard.

Due to the competitive nature of the leaderboard entries will only be considered if there are a minimum of 8x satellites locked in and video with OSD summary clearly visible when landing.

I’d like to record a new speed limit for “Custom FPV Wing”
I currently hold it at 60.27mph
image

Today recorded 182KM/Hr = 113.75mph
@notveryprettyboy witnessed this.
Achieved using my Sonicmodell HD wing, 4S pack, X2216-1250KV motor, 8x6 2-blade prop. INAV v2.5.2

Cheers
Steve :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow thats some serious speed. Flight time isn’t too bad considering the powerdraw. :+1:

Thank you

3" and 165kph of pure Shonk! :rocket:

Had a lot of fun putting this together, and loads of the usual FPV self-build frustration including 3 total rebuilds, 2 rinsed batteries and 1 fried FC. (No partridges though) Still.. better than being bored.

This is my version of a 3" design I saw online and is a dinky version of @Cedric 's current record holder. Never gonna touch that, but for a 3"… I’m chuffed with the results thus far.

Using an iFlight Blitz 7 FC with 55A ESCs (after I toasted a smaller board :man_facepalming:) and 3600kv motors. It’s not quite sub 250g once you count the Vista set up and the battery. Have hammered it on 4S, and this is probably as fast as it goes. I put the pitch angle on the OSD so I could actually see how far over I was as it’s damn hard to judge accurately and I didn’t want to plough the field at >150kph!

The base set up..

All packs neatly into the rocket body.

It’s sooo shonky!

But… it shifts too… :rocket:

Not sure of the exact rules of this game.. so here’s a screen shot of the bbl file..

Maxed at 45.82mps - which Google tells me is 164.95kph. Which I’m blummin pleased with!

I also have a 6S that I will try next … gently at first. It shouldn’t fry anything but it actually flies really nicely now!

Nice speed mate :rocket: :star_struck:

I’ll have to find my DJI Mini 2

lol. Doooo it. I have the Mini 4K, which I believe was formerly known as the Mini 2 SE.. which must stand for ‘Slow Edition’… cos it doesn’t move like yours does :joy:

Hoping with this entry to claim the top of the leaderboard spot

Top speed of 262km/h (loads more to come as this was only an 80% throttle test run  )
Loads of red but all is well

Full flight:

Next flights will have to wait a bit - had an accident at the start of the following pack so drone will be out of action for a little while (hopefully not too long  )

The top brass are looking at this and will report back in due course if your attempt at the speed record is successful or not

Congrats Cedric, nice to see a very different design leading the way.

Ha ha, what have I done now

The new FPV leaderboard is now live :star_struck:

Thanks once again to @Cedric and @group-fpv for pulling all this together

The first post in this thread is set to a Wiki type which means any Trust Level 3 club members can update the leaderboard, please don’t feel you need to wait for @Committee to do it, this is your leaderboard

and why not! We need another French in the leaderboard - I live in London - I won’t compete with Cedric to build a specific quad for speed, but this is the result of my 5.5" racer (FlightClub proton frame, 2408 - 1950 KV motors - 6S - O3 with 5552 gemfans).

and the best proof for FPV is the agony of the battery a.k.a. the “land now” message

183 kmh = 113.7 mph

… and now I am reading the details - ignore my post!

quick question - the 6" bit is the size of the props the drone can accept, right?

My first instinct was to say yes… But then remembered the HS5 (the frame I used for the top spot) can take 6" props… (but speed runs are done with 5.25" or 5.30" props)
So… would this mean the HS5 should be considered as in the 6" and over category?

I am torn

What do you guys think @group-fpv? Should we have a poll??
