Buttermere + Sour Milk Gill - Added to Lakes and Reservoirs in North West

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission not required.

A day out to the Lakes, and Sour Milk Gill waterfall was demanding to be flown, but turning around it was to be met with Buttermere itself, amazing views… Car Parking is busy and £3.50 for 2 hrs, then a 3/4 mile walk to the Waterfall and the lake.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 19/10/2024. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

Lovely place! I flew there last year and posted a Notam as it’s one of the RAFs low flying routes. I got a call from them a couple of hours before the Notam started to say they had 2 fast jets coming through and was I still planning to fly. When I said yes they said just keep it down to 100 feet and you’ll be fine! My mate couldn’t believe the RAF had phoned me! Still got some nice shots though. I kept the camera ready just in case and they never showed up!
Also, according to their online land map, that part of the shoreline is not on the National Trust’s property either!

Thanks Graham, we weren’t exctly sure where we were going to fly, hence I didn’t put a NOTAM out, but as it was a Saturday afternoon and I kept the height to within 100ft agl I was certain we would be ok if any fast jets had arrived… Perhaps in future we will get a bit better at posting NOTAMs before venturing out…

I’ve flown here too @AlbionDrones
