Camera Error on DJI Mini 2

Hi All,

I have a recurring problem with my Mini 2, the camera seems to twitch harshly resulting in unusable footage, this has happened on about three different occasions, the fault does clear after a few seconds and I am able to continue flying.

It mainly happens when using the Litchi app on my Galaxy S21 Ultra phone.

Would anyone have any idea what could be causing this or have seen this happen before, software compatibility or hardware issue?

I would be grateful for any input.

Is this video clip taken directly from the SD card in the drone? Or is it a cached version from your phone?

Hi,

This is directly from the SD card, just cropped to length to upload.

The Gimbal is also connected to the body of the drone also by two small rubber type plugs. Have you checked one is not loose? When I had a Mini 2 I accidentally pranged my drone and these popped out very easily.

Hi,

That was a good call and well worth checking but as you can see below, the plugs are a bit dirty but still intact and secure.

Thanks for the idea.

There are two ribbon cables attached to the Mini 2 camera / gimbal. They are normally fixed to the chassis wall with a little adhesive. If these cables have come away from the wall, they could catch on the gimbal, created a similar jerky motion as seen in the video.

Test it with the DJI fly app and another phone if possible

Spray compressed air around and behind gimble, if have filter remove, check all your rotors are in perfect condition as faulty blade will effect camera, switch on a table watch the gimble and if playing up a simple stopping it moving with your finger can fix any further problems, finally make sure you’ve calibrated all and updated firmware on phone and drone, don’t calibrate with smart watch on is advised. :+1:

Just a thought have u tried a different SD card

Or can you see the gimbal moving when’s it doing this (if so just shoot me down)

Similar problem here, but I have not yet narrowed it down as it was too wet to fly at the time.
I was using Litchi to perform a mission, where the gimbal was set to focus on certain waypoints along the route. Now Litchi has the controller slaved to the gimbal (by default on my version), so by moving the controller the gimbal also moved, and I am wondering if that causes a conflict with the gimbal trying to obey the mission’s parameters.
As I say, I’ve not yet had a chance to pin it down, but it was only once I started using Litchi for its ‘autonomous’ features.
