Here’s a shot I got earlier, ND16 filter, not edited… Mini 3 (not pro)
Thank you @milkmanchris - thats an excellent tool
We are very proud of it , thank you for the comments
@DamoVit The best advice I can give for confidence is find a flying buddy. attend a couple meets it does worlds for gaining confidence
Thanks @DeanoG60 I’ll have a look at whats happening locally
If nothing is going on, have a look on the members map and reach out to some local members
Grab hold of the vicar/priest and ask him if you can take some aerial photo’s, tell him you’ll give him a copy of one the photo for the Parish magazine, or you’ll have a look if there’s any holes in his roofing. 9.9 times out of 10, they’ll snatch your hand off, especially if it means they’ll save a couple of quid.
That’s not strictly true, so be careful if that is the advice you follow
Yep.
Yes you can, but I would suggest that it is respectful to contact the church and gain permission. I did that for a church near the coast which has appeared in many TV productions. The church office was happy for me to fly over and even take off from the churchyard - with two provisos…
-
I didn’t fly when there were people visiting the churchyard, so I didn’t disturb them, out of respect.
-
I did not post any footage on social media which could show potential thieves how to access the roof to steal lead or copper. Apparently such footage had been posted previously.
I feel those are entirely reasonable requests which we should all consider, for churches and similar locations.
@Dormouse - entirely reasonable and respectful
thanks for your input
Just beware of ‘Acts of God’
Most impressive images, thanks for replying
Whereabouts in Ireland is that? I’m asking because I’m frequently in the Carlow/Kilkenny area and often in Donegal and it looks like it would be worth a side trip if I’m anywhere close. Lovely shots BTW.
Thank You. Both of these Churches are in The Poisoned Glen, Dunlewey, County Donegal. The mountain behind the first (The Sacred Heart) is Errigal, beautiful location and well worth the side trip gif you have the time.
The Poisoned Glen was on my list for my next trip to Donegal. That was supposed to be in July but the b&b closed down and it was too short notice to get somewhere else in a hurry. Have replanned for 2024.
If you fancy the hike up Mt Errigal, it’s well worth it!
