Can you get a tracker for a drone

Hi all,
I was flying today it was windy so I moved to a low ground the wind there was slight, I could not get GPS but it was in sight all the time I crossed a stream the into the next field, took it up to 30MT where it met strong winds I turned towards me and went flat out but I was loosing ground, distance 200Mt so I told it to land watching it descend below the trees, the field was grass deep clumps of grass.

It took me ages to find it, the function “find my drone” only goes to the last recorded position, not there? it must have lost the controller on the way down.

So my question can you buy a small tracker and glue it to the drone and find with my phone?

I have AirTag on mine, DJI Air 3, and one inside my hard case

When I had DJI Mavic pro I lost it roughly 300 MTRS from me but it was on a side of cliff and it took me the next day many hours climbing to location but just could not find it even if it was 2 ft from me as there was trees around.

So bought another Mavic pro and this time I fitted a RF-V16 GPS tracker, it was reassuring as if found it one click call me or SOS communicator and I can text to send coordinates and continuous alarm. This is a SIM card as I find Bluetooth only worked if your definitely near device.

That’s a few years ago so probably there more advanced and smaller devices today.

Thanks Ziceman, I think that’s the route I will take, I was 5 foot from it in the field and could not see it, the help was my foot steps in the grass I went up and down shuffling my feet progressing across the field finally found it.

Thanks for the input

It’s handy if found by someone else as they can communicate with just you contacting or the press the SOS button, I also put my full mobile number and reward sticker on the drone.

It’s also good device to use for your kids or grandchildren to track and they also have emergency button to press in case of emergency.
