Capacity of SD card using a DJI Mini 2

Hi guys, does anyone know how long I can video with my DJI Mini 2 with a 128GB SD card. I know the battery I’d probably the governing factor but it would be useful if I knew how quick the SD card would take to reach its capacity.
Thanks

At a guess I would say if recording at full res 4k about 50 battery’s

But why are you so bothered just transfer to a PC

I’ve been asked to video my grandsons football match. 30min each half. All agreed and approved by parents and managers. If the video was on low res setting and drone at around 30m in the air behind a goal (not over the pitch) so that noise was not an issue I wondered if it was possible to record 1 hour on a 128 SD card. I have three batteries.
If not then possibly 5 min segments.

Hi Sparky looking on the web it appears a 128 GB card will take around 24hours of video depending on quality. So 1 hour should not be an issue. Just depends how long three batteries will last with the mini 2 in fixed position and low wind speed.

I just checked my videos

A 5-minute 4k is about 4GB but also remember the max file size is 4GB so a longer video will be split into 4GB segments

Should be around 22 minutes per battery

I have just done this recently and as Sparkyws says the flight is about 22 mins
The individual 4k videos were 3mins 50 seconds & took up 3.5 gb each

The amount of video you can record on a 128GB SD card with your DJI Mini 2 will depend on several factors, including the video resolution, frame rate, and bitrate.
At the highest video quality setting (4K at 30fps with a 100Mbps bitrate), you can expect to record approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes of footage on a 128GB SD card. At lower resolutions and bitrates, you can record even more.

In case it has any impact, please also bear in mind that when recording at max resolution on the DJI Mini 2
a) You need to ensure you’re using a high quality/speed SD-card per the DJI recommendations; if you haven’t used the memory card with your drone before ensure before you set off for the day that your drone accepts the card and maybe record a 10 second clip at your desired quality to ensure it works as intended.
b) The default format of your SD-card (usually exFAT) will limit your recording to no more than 4GB, which at max quality on DJI Mini2 is about 5mins 27secs:

This last point occurs seamlessly in the background so you can record for the full 30 minute/battery length and in the background your drone will create 6+ files on the card in the background, which you’ll require some minor video editing to piece back together again.

Also, a tip that I mess up almost every single time I fly the DJI Mini 2… Make sure you hit “Stop” on the recording (on your phone) before you turn the drone/controller off after the flight. If you forget to do this, the final clip created by the drone will show with a size of 0KB and won’t be watchable. You can sometimes recover the file by putting the SD card back into your drone, powering it all back up, giving it a second, then turning everything off again, but not always (says the guy that lost a 5 minute clip yesterday! )

Just don’t! Why would you? Chances are you’d want to zoom in, in post, and that would only make the result even worse.

Even if you wouldn’t get an hour on the card (which as you’ll see from above posts you will) - get another card and change at the same time as you change a battery. The flight time of 1 battery is the only real limitation.

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies and advice.
Video taken and all went well. I kept the 4k with auto settings as I haven’t mastered bespoke settings yet.
Drone was flown at around 50m to make sure the noise was not an issue. It was located just behind one end and using 2xzoom I was able to follow the play up and down the pitch quite easily with the camera rotation.
At the end I now have 15 files which require editing.
Only one issue was when I landed after around 20minutes of play to change the battery. Sod’s Law that’s when my grandsons team scored. :rage:
