CE (Conformité Européenne) marks to be extended in move away from UKCA marking

I wonder if this may breathe life back into the C1 drone marking option here in the UK?

Peter @BudgieUK I’ve just added “Conformité Européenne” to the title of your post as a lot of people have been confusing CE (Conformité Européenne) marks with CAA drone Class Marks over the years

Thank you …. I’m trying to get better at searching before posting, and making sure the title ‘works’ but still have a way to go

CE markings are a bit of rubbish as you can self certify and declare. it does not mean that the product has been tested and is independently verified to comply with some standard or other.

the only time the self certification could be called into question would be during a legal case, and whilst some may think that is a big deterrent, it is not really in my opinion, especially if you are based abroad as it is impossible to enforce any ruling. legal means to resolving something is always a last resort as it is very expensive and time consuming (if you have never actually been to court for a civil matter trust me it’s a last resort and the outcome is never predictable or guaranteed as enforceable… it is not an avenue you want to take)

point being… don’t put your faith in any markings… especially where they can be self declared that includes CE or UKCA

I also wonder if some people confuse “UKCA” with “UK CAA” when it comes to drones too.
