Challenges to flying at Fair Isle, Scotland

Has anyone been challenged on the legality of flying on Fair Isle, Scotland? It is covered by an “Enhanced Warning Zone” although I understand it is not illegal to fly in those areas.

Interesting… I wonder what the actual reasons are?

The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Fair Isle) Regulations 2012.

This happened the day before that temporary restriction you posted was put in place.

Possibly not related with the 24 hour delay.

It’s a temporary restriction though so would have been lifted shortly after.

Thanks for the reference. Wow, it’s been 12 years and the aeronautical chart hasn’t been updated. I shall be flying on Fair Isle in late May.

Fair Isle lies under an FRZ (Flight Restriction Zone), and permission will need to be sought from the ATC at the airport.

This isn’t normally refused, but neither is it guaranteed.

Our own Drone Scene covers the vast majority of the UK for such info, and much more, but doesn’t extend out to Fair Ilse or Shetlands.
