Chartley Castle lies in ruins to the north of the village of Stowe-by-Chartley
in Staffordshire, between Stafford and Uttoxeter.
Mary Queen of Scots, was imprisoned on the estate in 1585. The remains of the
castle and associated earthworks are a Scheduled Monument, the site having been
protected since 1925.
ST18 0LN. Parking is awkward as the A518 is a busy road. There are a couple of
areas of field entrance hard standing near the ruins.
The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 06/08/2026. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location. Landowner permission may be required before taking off.
