Thanks for the heads up Nidge. I’ve flown quads for years so should be ok - fingers crossed.
I’ve crashed and repaired quite a few over the years so will play about and see if i can increase the range a little but it sounds like I’ll be modding from the off with this one - at least this gives me something to do over Xmas.
The advice on the headset is sound. I’ve tried a few over the years with varying degrees of success so will make sure I’m seated when I get this out for the first time.
I best get making an adapter then! I thought that it was like the THFS1 with the option of both batteries.
Actually thinking of changing the connector to xt30 right away.
Has anyone else on here done that too?
@notveryprettyboy has put an XT30 on his THFS1. I’ve got the THFS2 like yourself and if you read further back in this thread from here I’ve posted a few photos of my upgrades I used a TinyLEDs Sled to mount a TBS Crossfire RX Nano and a TBS Unify pro32 nano VTX now I don’t have to worry about the range of the SPI receiver

As Dean said, I stuck an xt30 on it. When you’re used to it, 2s is fine.
If your able to, you can put a throttle limit on in Betaflight to take out some of the oomph. But you’ll be fine I reckon.
I’m fairly confident but see the xt30’s giving me more battery options.
So I’ll probably do it once I’ve had a few weeks flying.
As I’ve bought the complete set up it looks like I’ll be upgrading the transmitter first.
Any recommendations on that?
I have a Tango 2 and I like it because it is like a game controller. Other people like big radios with lots of switches.

I use the mavic as my regular drone so not too dissimilar.

I use the Radiomaster TX16S with the Crosfire module in the back. Mainly because I have a tiny whoop that uses an FrSky RX. As the Tango2 only binds to Crossfire receivers without fitting the multi protocol module.
But a new cheaper option would be Radiomaster TX12.

Always like to be frugal with my cash.
I’ll have a look at both.
Going forward and knowing what I’m like, I think one that can be used for multiple applications would be best for me.
I’m certain I’ll be buying more drones once I decide I like fpv

Aren’t all “grown up” hobbies.
I’ve got loads - fishing,cycling,drones, photography to name a few.
The mrs thinks I’m the best salesman in the world as I’m always getting my stuff for amazingly cheap prices

I love a bit a of fishing as well. Theres a video on here somewhere of me combining fishing and drones I used my Mavic Air 2 to get some awesome aerial footage of the venue I was fishing at the time

I’ve been a fisherman since I was a kid.
Been more in to specimen carp fishing or blanking for the last 10 years or so.

I’ve recently changed my daily driver from a Taranis X9D to the Radiomaster TX16S and I’m very happy with it. I fly everything from these tiny quads to a 1200size heavy lift Hexacopter, and small foam wings to 3m span scale glider, primarily on FrSky. But sometimes I’m asked to repair stuff that uses other radio systems and the multi-protocol capability of the TX16S is very convenient. As for long range stuff I’m the Red Headed Step Child of this group. I’ve used the ImmersionRC EZUHF system for a few years but I’ve recently started using the ImmersionRC Ghost system, completely side stepping the popular Crossfire system for technical nerdy reasons.

Seems like you know your stuff which will be handy as I’ve a lot to learn and buy by the sounds of things.
The tx16s looks like a good buy and I’m sure will be cheaper in the sales.
Did you get yours from Banggood or similar or uk?
