Checking Local authority ban

I can’t believe I had to add this to DroneScene. Quite popular with the East Mids FPVers.

It’s picturesque enough for some good camera drone shots across to Carsington as well, if that’s what floats your boat.

You’ll have to hand launch :wink::wink: ( probably) Since Derby City Clowncil, handed control of the park over to a re-wilding group, instead of retaining it as a golf course. The golf course was losing money at the time. But now the re-wilding group rely on council and National Lottery grants, so instead of the council losing ten
-twenty grand a year, they dole out a hundred thousand in “grants” so the re-wilding group don’t cut the grass. If I don’t cut my grass, I get letters off the council telling me my garden looks untidy :open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth:
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oh yes I like it there when it’s not too windy. I have footage around the old lead mine.

No, I realised that pretty quickly. I was referring to the Mini Pro 4 when I made that comment. The Avata seems rather clumsy and noisy by comparison but I got it because it has a wider angle lens and I wanted the FPV2 goggles anyway.

An update on drone flying in Amber Valley Borough Council Parks. Following the earlier email from them saying there is a blanket ban, I raised a Freedom of Information Request to query the situation. I’ve just received the FOI response. It states there is no blanket ban “on flying drones from property owned or maintained by Amber Valley Borough Council.” In the interim, I’d seen a similar FOI response (9th Feb 21 to Simon Hawkins) by AVBC saying the Council has no such byelaws.

So as it stands it’s not forbidden, and the parks are a public space, so I’ll carry a copy of the FOIs. I’m thinking of going back to the official who said no flying, and suggesting ways they can keep control of the situation such as only CAA rules (and CAP722C), and requiring Public Liability insurance.

:person_shrugging:why and why?:person_facepalming:

(why not join the local constabulary and see if they are looking for any part time volunteer PCSOs?)

Good to know they’ve not changed their minds in the few days since GADC requested one from each local authority: Over 370 Local Authority Byelaws and Policies on the Recreational Use of Drones are now available on Drone Scene

They turned me down.

Make your next foi a request in the number of drone incidents reported, same to the local plod.

Is there really a ‘situation’

Or the number of times they have lied to the general population, about non existant regulations.

Do you have a link to your FOI as I can only find one from us about drones?

My FOI request was direct and not via WDTK. I’m happy to let you have a copy of their response.
