Hi Dean, welcome to GADC. Another escapee from Hayling Island facebook  Let me know if you need any helpor someone to fly with locally. Surprised we haven’t met in the air before now!

(added 18.02) I see you have just joined Denmead Drone SAR. Great to have you with us. Maybe meet you over the weekend as we search the Butser area for Trinity Robin…

Thank you, always looking for help and tips as well as good places to go, there’s only so much of the island you can take pictures of.

Welcome! As per comment from @macspite, surprised our drones have never bumped into each other! I was literally on the same flight path as you the other day going the opposite direction! :scream:

So you are the swine that have been buzzing incessantly over my house, invading my privacy, befouing my airspace, scaring the dogs, terrifying my children … (cont.p 94)

And macspite has never done that… ha-ha…

However I was a bit surprised that most of the flights (looking on your YouTube Channel over last four months or so… you certainly have crammed them in…) are seemingly, now how do I say it without sounding like a party pooper… not legal… over houses, roads, built up areas, cars… etc… personally it doesn’t worry me but as macspite mentioned some people do see it as dog scaring… ha-ha, I just wanted to make certain you were aware as trouble could brew from an unknowing non Dronie… I’m guessing you have read the drone code…? just that I fly over Hayling as well and had to get several permissions from the Harbour master, Natural England, HBC, RSPB… etc which I have but troublesome to begin with but obviouslly OK now…

Anyway, didn’t want to sound like sticking my nose in, just more interesed…

Cheers

Aerial shots can be deceiving. I have a lot that look as if I am over a densely populated area - I’m not. The shot is of a denslely populated area with the aircraft sitting above an open space . I plan my flights using Litchi, the flight data gets uploaded to Airdata after a flight and, on checking, i can verify the track taken by the aircraft is the track tht was planned. So it’s all about heights and camera angles. Maybe I’ll stick a disclaimer at the end of my videos - No drone codes were harmed during the making of this video."

I understand what you’re saying, the first couple of videos are me just getting started and before I took the caa course. After that, I tend to stick to the 50m rule and looks can be deciving. I feel that as long as I’m between 50-120m then there shouldn’t be an issue, close ups of paddle boarders were taking with permission. As for Harbour masters and wildlife, again I belive with the 50m rule in place it shouldn’t be an issue, we’d be on the phone all day making inquiries about flying and would never get off the ground. I think flying in the right manner and showing competence when flying and there really shouldn’t be any issues. You’ll always find someone in Facebook will want to moan but that’s social media for you.

Hi,

Actually it was the other guy I was sorta replying to… bulldogdeanop, who also replied… I follow your threads anyway as I think you were first person I spoke to on here and got some tips…

I didn’t want to inflame the situation but his first comment back was the first few videos on his YouTube was “these were done before he had a licence” so I’m just leaving it there otherwise an argument will break out ha-ha… again… which I don’t want, I just want to fly but locked down still and also Shielding unfortunately… aghhh.

Cheers

Yes, that is the problem… some of the sites around there are SSI’s , Conservancy areas, under the protection of the RSBP, HIWWT to mention a few etc. etc… droning is a pain as well as a good hobby… and finding a good spot can be difficult in line with the regs… been there done it… doing it… ha-ha.

Happy flying.

Well, I’m probably well known for butting into topics with my (not always relevant) opinions

Sorry to hear that you are having to stay inside as there has been some decent weather - although the traffic and the crowds on the island made it almost a necessity to fly early morning or mid to late evening.

You are right, there are several sites that are sensitive especially during the nesting season. Although I’m not sure how much disturbance a Mavic Air at 400 feet causes when helicopters, including Chinooks and the Coastguard regularly overfly at lower than that without any comeback from the bird lovers!

Yep I totally agree, but its just once someone kicks off it can effect all of us, perhaps just me being on the safe side but a lot more restrictions to come later in the year now at least…

And yes a pain I’m stuck in as have just got my EVO 2 PRO, twice up and down the garden at hedge height, now that is discipline…
