My thoughts exactly. I also find it strange that with all the Chinese CCTV snooping in government buildings and council facilities in the UK and across Europe and the Chinese coverse support for Russia in Ukrain and the Taiwan thing reappearing that the EU would want to get further in bed with a Chinese company at the moment, especially with the rumours that DJI receive Chinese stete funding…
The EU hasn’t done anything. The Mavic 3 has been certificated as C1-compliant by an independent German testing firm, as is required under the regs.

Got a double layered hat on mate, still getting the signals activating the voices in my head. There is nothing from EASA to clarify this, it may just be a marketing stunt from DJI.
Apparently TUV Rheinland are the official Notified Body who certified the Mavic 3 for A1 Operation on behalf of EASA.
A search on their safety certificate database shows no records.
EASA, who are an EU organisation would have to approve it.

A bit misleading and disingenuous to call it a “world first” for regulations that currently only apply in the European Union and EEC…
If true, sounds like retro classification which everyone was told wouldn’t happen, if this will be applicable in the UK is yet to be seen, and will others like Autel do the same, there is life outside of DJI… ha-ha.

Not necessarily - id will require at least a firmware upgrade to introduce the slow speed mode, some ID requirements etc.
Could easily apply to M3s sold from that point on not models already purchased.

Which I flew the weekend but I have ordered the mini as the anafi will be in the A3 class from December 22nd But apparently they may extend the legacy drones category , but with what’s been going on with the government lately it will be the last thing on their mind so I bought the mini 2 so there’s less to worry about.anybody else heard anything

Seems like the Mavic 3 series have received class C1 certification in the EU and also all existing owners of the aircraft will receive retrospective certification via a firmware update. That is a C1 not a C2 certification. So all you need to do is buy a Mavic 3, do a min on line test as many times as you want until you pass and then fly the 900 g bird with impunity. Something tells me if the UK follows the EU on this it won’t be long before some twat drops a 900 g weight on someone and kills them. Don’t bother doing the A2 certification. It will just become a white elephant. The Mavic 3 can probably do 80% of all film and photography requirements ……
except 90% of the time where a sub 250g drone is best.
