I’m organising a club meetup at Barr Beacon :smiley:

When: Sunday, 23rd August 2026

Start time: 10:00

Approximate end time: 14:00

Suitable for drone types: Camera Drones & FPV Drones

Additional notes:
We will be there for 10am. If you get there any earlier we always park in front of the blue binoculars (unless some dog walker has jumped in our space). Please try to keep this space clear. Please note on the map where we are as we are in the north car park, if you get the right gate you can see traffic lights. There is a height restriction of 2.67m / 8.9ft use the left lane to avoid tyre damage as there are two lanes (right if you are coming out). A great location for people who have any mobility issues as you can fly from your car and should it rain then you can sit in your car until it stops. No toilets on site but look on map for places.

Message the forum if you have difficulty.

Got a remote control car… bring it too. Off road one? Ask about the off road area for the car.

Not got a drone, thinking about it, plenty of drones to have a look at and lots of advice. Don't forget to come and see me when you get there (somewhere by the orange car) so we can check you in. If we have printed a card for you please bring it. If we have not then come and ask us for one to be printed.

Barr Beacon is a nice open space high up and on a good day you can see the mountains in Wales which is quite impressive. Also on clear days you can see Birmingham Air Port.

Whilst we put a finish time of about 2pm if the car park is clear we sometimes stick around longer. We have been there up to 6pm lol

Today, we drove up the other side of Barr Beacon just for a time waster whilst waiting for the rain.

I think a big hats off needs to go to the Fire Service. It was only today we realised just how close the fire was to the other side. It went through the railings and started on trees at the other side. We saw this happening and as you could see by the photos, it started off small and just moved across the field really quick.

If there are any fire fighters that read this. Well done, the past heatwave has been a major problem to you. You are pretty much going from one fire to another one. When we were up there we could see different fires in different locations. The fire crews are hero’s to get control of a very strong force. Fire can easily spark up at any point. When we were there we watched a tree not far from us re ignite and it got put under control again.

FIRE CREW… WELL DONE… WE OWE SO MUCH TO WHAT YOU DO FOR US.
