Cold War Museum - Bentwaters Parks (Former RAF Bentwaters)

Hidden in a corner of a once busy RAF (USAFE) airbase in a forest in Suffolk is the Bentwaters Cold War Museum where there are all manner of treasures to be found. Only open on certain days of the year, it’s worth your time if the looming threat of nuclear war is your thing.

RAF Bentwaters was also up front & centre during the Rendlesham Forest Incident in 1980.

Most of the Hardened aircraft shelters have been converted into other use and their main doors decommissioned & reconfigured.

£2000 a month to rent one if you’re interested.

However this one has some rare treasures inside

And if you ask them nicely & give them a fiver they will show you. But don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret.

Yes, the Jaguar is live, Eagle eyes will notice it’s still got it’s Aden cannon fitted too. Live In so much it’s fast taxiable down the disused but very well maintained Bentwaters runway & wants to fly. The CAA just won’t allow it, they get fussy about that sort of thing especially on a Sunday afternoon.

There are other beautiful treasures stored within this HAS but they don’t want people publicly shouting about it. I’ll leave that to your imagination.

Bentwaters, funny old place. Worth a visit
