A mixture of footage from our AVATA2 and OSMO Pocket3, filmed along the path on the south side of the Manchester Ship Canal, between Lock Lane in Partington and Warburton, in June 2025.
In August 2025 we both faced some health issues, with Lee having tendon problems and myself being pre-diabetic. The root cause of these was we were both carrying too much excess weight, Lee by 2 stone and myself by 8 stone, so a decision was made, being in our 50’s and wanting to remain as active as we can for as long as we can, we decided to do something about our health and to lose weight and increase our fitness through taking more exercise.
We joined Slimming World and have both lost weight steadily. Lee is now at his target weight, and I have lost 5 stone, with 3 more still to go.
Exercise-wise, we started with walking, going out on weekends and walking to places where we could fly the drones and capture some cool footage. We started with a couple of miles and built up to where we are now, able to walk 4 to 7 miles in a day, allowing us more opportunities to fly the drones.
As the weight has come off, the speed of loss slows down, so an increase in exercise was needed, and also to further improve and maintain heart and lung health. Hence, we began the Couch to 5 K program. Coming from a very sedentary place myself, I will say it has not been easy, for the first few weeks I struggled to run even 30 seconds, but by sticking with it, repeating the runs and getting better each time, we have improved both stamina and speed.
We are still only on week 2, repeating week 1 for 7 weeks and week 2 for 3 weeks, but we are now able to run the full 90 seconds and will be moving onto week 3 shortly - with the hope that we will be able to run the 5k and complete a Parkrun by the Autumn.
Anyhows, take of the video what you like, it was an idea to do something to show ourselves what we are doing, to mark where we are and to allow us to look back at it in the future - and althugh some may laugh at the fatties running, others may find inspiration enough to takle their own future journeys…
