Great pic btw
I was actually wearing one at the time
The Cow&Calf was one of my first places of interest when I first started (Phantom 1 with a GoPro hard mounted underneath).
Just out of curiosity when did you take it? Was it recently?
The reason I ask I was listening to the communications between the security staff on The Calf working with the Netflix film crew last week. They seemed very enthusiastic as they were doing their “Judge Dredd” act with anyone who appeared to have a camera close by. It all sounded very Dad’s Army’ish.
Yeah - I went the day after they had filmed up there - sand everywhere and the imprint of matting visible by yellowed grass. They’re always up there filming - Sharp was one of the first I saw
I just clicked on the members map to see how many members were nearby and immediately recognised your name. Don’t worry, I don’t know you and I’ve no plans on stalking you but it was quite a strange coincidence as I’d also just stumbled on your documentary about the Bradford canal on YouTube by random chance. It was very entertaining, I didn’t expect it to be (strangely I’ve never had an interest in defunct canals). I watched it all the way through and learnt a few things, so thanks for that .
Nice pic too by the way.
must be 50 years since I was last up there - is the hotel still there…seem to remember something about a tree growing up through the centre of the building?
Hi Makkax… Sorry for not getting straight back Glad you enjoyed the Bradford Canal video - it was an interesting little project to put together… Hope to start getting some drone footage for a few video projects I’m thinking of putting together. Nice hearing from you
Mike
Hi Skydiver… The Cow & Calf hotel is still there - though not sure about a tree growing through it… Although, the George & Dragon at Apperley Bridge a few miles away was built about an old oak tree - the bark of which (after some preservation), finally went about 30 years ago
thanks @Greyseal2021 - it probably was the George & Dragon, the old grey matter 'aint what it used to be…lol
