That’s pretty normal for the Mini - it only has a wifi connection so range is very limited, especially in areas with a lot of interference

Thank you @milkmanchris

Thank you @MartG1960. I am right out in the sticks and can usually get up to 0.8 miles from the TOAL point.

4 posts were split to a new topic: I had nearly my first major incident today

If I could go back to my original plea for help please. I have learnt quite a bit about iPads & things over the last few days and have emptied my cache, updated my iPad to 15.5, etc. But I still have the same problem. And so today I was determined to have a little fly, even though it was too windy (IMHO) But I still have the same problem, although the Mini and the RC were never more than 400 ft apart. And so I took the drone into a shed and placed the RC 2 ft away from it and turned on screen record so that I could show what is happening. But now I have the additional message that tells me that I am not logged in.

Please excuse my ignorance but what am I supposed to be logged into ?

DJI account ?

DJI Account would be my guess too

Thank you @milkmanchris My Son set us both up when we bought a Mini each and while I know my way around Windows reasonably well I just don’t seem to be able to grasp anything Apple.

Would have said the same thing on an android device ;o)

Thank you @Jhdee

The CPU message is nothing to do with your flying conditions, but a warning that the hardware is struggling to run the software that controls your drone.

As people have pointed out, each release of the DJI app adds a little more functionality, which puts a little more strain on the device running it.

Likewise, updates to the device operating system. Later versions tend to get more power hungry (to take advantage of recent hardware advances, which obviously does you no favours). So I’m afraid updating this probably won’t help either.

Aside from going back to apps and OSes that are contemporary with when your hardware was first released, which isn’t generally a practical option, the best you can do is try and strip everything back as far as you can, so you only have the bare essentials running.

I hasten to add, I am not an Apple user, these are just observations based on the way computing devices tend to behave.

And once you have a version that works for you keep it until they roll out something mind blowing that you cannot live without in an update

Thank you for that @Earwig

Very informative if not a little worrying. I have had a couple of years of great fun out of my Mavic Mini/iPad combination. Are things about to come to an end because of hardware/software advances ? Most of my IT stuff is done at a desk, in my office, on a Windows desktop. But I do have to admit to using my iPad for browsing etc. when I am in any other room of the house and when there’s nothing very interesting on the TV.

Firstly I would like to thank you all for being so helpful, and, it also has to be said, for the Mods etc. who run this site. I ran a Forum and on-line shop for a classic vehicle club for 12 years and so I know how much work is involved.

But I am reporting back to say that I think I have been able to fix everything. Firstly I found my password that enabled me to log on. Then I updated both the Mini and the RC firmware after watching videos on YouTube. I fired it all up in the lounge and no error messages. So I just had to go and have a fly didn’t I ! Problem is that it was spotting with rain but, long story short, and even with screen recording switched on, I got out to 1800ft distance and 120ft high. Not big figures I know but they were increasing and decreasing as they should, also no error messages, and I even took a few pics while I was up there.

So, once again, many thanks to you all. Kind regards - scraperman.
